I just started watching the set again. It's one of my favorites.

Just ordered the first DVD from Alakazam
Never been a huge fan of his booklets although I have a few that I do like. I have high hopes for this because everyone I talk to tells me that even if you cant pull the effect off, Docc can so seeing the master make these seemingly impossible to pull off effects work will be a big help for me. Plus I am a DVD *** at the moment and I need my fix! Peace & Love Posted: Jun 3, 2009 6:53am Just received Volume One and I have to say its bloody brilliant!!! Docc has a fantastic rapport with the audience and knows how to communicate to them in a way that is entertaining and compelling. (I laughed out loud when that geezer pulled out a bag of weed from his trowser pocket and quickly hid it in his shirt pocket!) The explanations are top notch and the detail Docc goes into is like watching Max Maven in a magic shop! I cant wait to see the next 3 Volumes! Peace & Love Matt Matt |

I've always been a Docc fan from the first day. I remember getting "The Band of the Hand" and loving every bit of it. Docc's material is usually a bit different and as such has always held an appeal for me since I like to get away from the card tricks every once in a while.
I was working yesterday and decided to try out the Living or Dead routine from volume one of this set. Wow. I cannot express enough how powerful this was. This absolutely killed. This would have been strong on its own but with the patter tips from the DVD, this was an absolute miracle. Now I can't wait to go out and try other things from this DVD set to see the reactions they'll get. |

I'm saving up what money I can rake together to buy some stuff in the future and am on the fence about this set because of the obscure effect descriptions (which I am fine with usually, but I want to know more specifically about things when I'm putting out $120). Can anybody give me some more specific effect descriptions for this set? I don't mean painstaking, but just general ideas. Also, what sort of bonus materials are there? Interviews, discussions, etc.?
Thanks for any help in advance! Scott

I'd say volume 3 is about the best. It features a nice discussion of equivoque and has a d*** r****** drawing dupe that struck my fancy. Volume 4 features a nice take Mr. Hilford does on Annemann's "Test of the Tiber". |

Docc takes very old effects and reworks them into polished gems.

Having David Alexander on the set was wonderful. His expertise and interaction with Docc made the explanations crystal clear.

I agree, David and Doc make a dynamic duo when it comes to instruction.

Has anyone seen Hilford perform this material in person for a normal audience?

I like the set okay but won't use any of the material personally.

I really enjoyed this set, personally.
Someone mentioned earlier in the thread that they thought that the "Uncle Klink" routine was the poorest of the offerings on these videos - well, I place it with my top 3 from this set! What a great new presentation for the old Key-rect effect. To be honest, most performers do the same standard presentations for this, and I find them rather uninspiring and boring. Leaning more towards the bizzarist side of magic, I enjoyed this one immensely. T42 was also quite good, and I've been using it for about a year and a half now at a gig where I perform 3 nights a week. It's always played very well for me. Always looking forward to Docc's releases. Just my 2 cents. Cheers. |

If youm like this set, you will LOVE Docc's new dvds called "The Vault". I think it's his finest work.

I suspect Kentonism (which is a well known phenomena of mentalists who release "workers" without ever working with them for real audience), but I based it solely on the weakness of the material on this set. By the way I've tried to find his website to see what venues he works this days but couldn't find anything. Actually since last week you can purchase: http://www.docchilford.com. I guess anyone can be a doc this days. Nimrod , Israel |

A better question:
Have YOU tried to work any of this material for a normal audience? The styling of the effects may not be to everyone's tastes, but the material on here is not weak, IMHO. Maybe give T42 a try, it's always worked well for me, but I digress... The old saying: One man's junk is another's treasure" applies once again. Cheers. |
