Does anyone know the type of coin that was used in the recent Dark Knight (Batman) movie? (i.e.: was it a Walking Liberty, Morgan, etc?)

It was a silver Peace Dollar. These were minted just at the end of WWI. Todd Lassen actually made a few double facers and put them on eBay.

I've got one of Todd's coins and it is a beauty.
I have five different presentations that all deal with the plot of the movie. I was thinking about releasing them as a download but I'm not sure if there would be a great interest. It's kind of a narrow "scope". Let me know if you guys are into it.... Kranzo

I would be very interested in any routines with the double sided peace dollar. Got on from Todd as well.

Basically in "Gestalt Theory" (let's not get scared by a technical word describing perception patterns and rules), there must be a certain proximity between an initial state and a final state for a change to be credible. The double facer (and double tailer) are great coins for very close up Spellbound routines. Thus a coin is allegedly so well tricked that it cannot be detected... There are several other possibilities and routines that I came up with: when you start, ideas pop up faster than you can write routines. I'd dare suggest that it's a good commercial bet for you

Nathan, I'm not sure if I'm reading your post correctly, But you are thinking about releasing an effect for download using a double sided coin? Would it work with just any double sided coin??

Hi Mark,
Yeah but it really wouldn't make sense because all of my presentations deal with the Dark Night movie and this coin. SO yes they would work with any double headed coin but the plot of the movie uses a double headed peace dollar which later ends up being scorched on one side. If you haven't seen the movie none of this makes sense. If you have you know exactly what I mean. : ) Kranzo

Here's an idea for the Dark Knight theme:
1)Scorch one side of the double facer 2)Put a peace dollar shell over the scorched side to hide the blackness. 3)Rotate dollar in hand showing both sides and talk about the movie. 4)Remove shell in hand as you flip coin in air. 5)Reveal the scorched side. Of course, you have to add a presentation.

I think this is a fantastic idea! I never even thought about the possibility of using the double face peace dollar as a trick in connection to the Dark Knight, my favorite movie ever! Thanks for the suggestions guys. -DP

Quote: Scorched meaning like burned on one side? I have seen the movie and I understand what you mean but is the burned side supposed to be relevant to Harvey Dent's face? I think that there might be issues though if you release it all relating to batman because of copywrite problems. sounds stupid but It could happen.
