Hello, everyone!

I really love De'vo's De'ring, but I have a hard time with performing it.

If you're working in a packed bar/restaurant or a club, it's almost impossible to get warm and a little bit sweaty on your hands and fingers, and this makes the ring stick so I can't get it on.

Has anyone else had this problem? I really wouldn't like to put the routine away.

Try a half size up in your ring.

I have the same problem. I find if I just wash my hands with soap and water before performing, once my hands dry off, things are fine. However, this creates major problems for me with my card magic because my fingers lose the tackiness I need for most card sleights. ARRRRR! Since I perform much more card magic, I decided to shelve De'Ring as much as I hated to.

You need to work in a strategy to wet your hands. Pick up a cold glass of something? Have a wet cloth in your rubber lined pocket?

I practiced the Gryphon roll a LOT until I lost my Himber ring..

It had the perfect grip on the edge work..

Baby powder works great but only for an hour or so. I'm trying a new lotion soon. The difference in the time of day with temperature can affect the size of your finger as well. Cool morning is fine but after lunch when it hots up, the ring sticks at the joint. Its a very fine line.

I guess De'Ring works good for De'vo is because it is cold in Germany and palms rarely get sweaty there.

De'vo suggests to use a damp cloth in-between perfomances that cools the hands and removes the sweat in the De' Ring forum.

I've been living in the Caribbean for a few years and performed my own versions of De'Ring in a routine daily for at least 2 years. I have certainly noticed that De'Ring was much harder to perform if my finger was swollen due to:

A) me carrying anything heavy or doing anything to get blood flowing to my fingers first - ex. gripping heavy luggage by the handles; or
B) me performing outdoors on hot humid days.

Performing in A/C areas worked perfectly fine. Also, a quick washing of the hands would achieve the same thing.

That being said, my use of De'Ring in my routine is almost always limited to effects that use a lot of misdirection which meant that I have a precious second or two extra to slip the ring on/off when my finger feels fatter.

It might not hurt to invest in a ring a half size larger for fat-finger days.

I usually use a damp cloth to wipe my hands and that does the job.
