I bought the jumbo card McCombical Prediction. However, the decks only have 8 to 9 cards each. The price of the trick was half of what others were selling it for. I now think it cost half because other dealers are selling the trick that contain 2 full decks. Is this the case and will only having 8 to 9 cards of each deck make it difficult to perform this convincingly? Thanks.

I've been using a McCombical Deck for years, and mine has only a few (8-10) cards in each packet. I think this is the way the effect was originally conceived, not with two full decks. Honestly, having two full decks would be over-kill for this effect, and using small packets is much easier to work with and in my opinion, the effect does not suffer from this at all. In fact, there are a few children's versions out that use the same McCombical principal, and they, too, use only a few cards in each packet.

I love this trick. David Williamson does a hilarious version with a cream pie.

You do only get a few cards with it... If you think about it, that's all you need...
Use it and see, it plays great for the $'s it costs.

The original for jumbo cards only had a few cards. It works well.

The painting version is "Mona Lisa McComb." I've performed this and gotten good reactions. The method is a little different than with playing cards, but it's well made. Some people have complained that the colors of the paintings are too dark, but I didn't find that to be a problem.

This is still one of favorites. It keeps the heat on the magician for errors rather than the volunteers.

That's right, Copperfield did the Wayne version on one of his specials.

You really know how to hurt a guy! LOL
I was doing well in the recording industry long before I could make much money at magic. I even did magic with cigarettes without filters!

Is it possible to make the deck by myself (especially if you need only 8 or 9 cards) or you have to buy a gaffed one?

Get an assistant from your audience. Show two decks, one blue backed and one red backed. You fan the blue deck and show the audience all different cards and remove one as a prediction (say the 5 of clubs)and show it to the audience placing in aside. You then fan the red deck and show tthe audience an entire deck of 5 of clubs, explaining your assistant will have a free choice of any of the cards. They "pick a card, any card" and remove it from the deck. Ask your assistant to name their card and act shocked when they announce King of Hearts. Have them show their card and it is the King of Hearts. Turn over your prediction and it matches. You have two different effects going for two different audiences. The assistant sees you make a prediction and getting it right and the audience sees you messin up then making it good.

My jumbo set only has 13 or 14 of each card as well, but it makes sense to me now. The effect fits in a single card box and a full deck of each could prove difficult to handle easily. Just my two cents.

Aldo Colombini has a great no-gaff version called Jumbo Jumble that's well worth checking out.

You can make this effect yourself, using roughing spray and a one way forcing deck. If you use 9 jumbo cards, you need 9 cards which are the same (or 10, that depends on how you look at it).

Isn't...or wasn't there a version of this made with jumbo cards using a method other than r**** & s*****? If so, is it still available?
