Combine the PK aspect of the Cobra Sharpie 2 with the Telekinesis deck, the Real Ghost 2, Power word Fall, the PK pen and the M5 and you will be able to have a completely fair PK routine. You can move quarters and empty soda cans amazingly with the deck and when someone says it must be the deck, you flip coins in their hands with the M5, then use the Cobra Sharpie to move something "Non-magnetic-The sharpie" from a completely different object. Useing the RG2 "In the vein of JUMP" you cause the pen across the room that is sitting in a mug to shoot out. Move on to the PK pen from across the room "As the spectator watches closely" and then finish by causing 6-10 pens to fall down like dominoes with Power Word: Fall. I think their brain would explode. I am pretty sure the Cobra Sharpie just won me over! To be used as a signaling tool as well as a PK tool in my routine is just GREAT! I can't wait to get my hands on one. Woohoo! -Matt

Matt if you do get one let me know if you get any new ideas for using it as I want to update the manual and need some further routines to include. One idea that never got fully fleshed out was to use the pen as an instant stooge maker?
hmmm food for thought!!

Ive picked my V2 up from the post office depot today and am grinning ear to ear. This is a real workers dream. I have absolutely no issues regarding handing this out to any participant! Will this work with a PK ring in the hand.
You might say reality is the result of complex negotiations between the observer and the observed. But that is simply a point of view.
Many Thanks Garrad |

Sounds very very good, I played with version 1 last year, so now I know this is something I am buying. - does it work with pk ring in hand?

Got mine through the post yesterday. Even better than I'd hoped.
Already got plenty of ideas going through my head. If anyone is interested, I've combined a couple of routines that uses 'The Relic' and the 'Assassin Wallet' with a written prediction inside. You can probably imagine what it is, but PM me if you want to know more. Showed it to my (magic-suffering) girlfriend earlier and she was amazed....and she knows what the Relic is! oh, and yes Dr Steve, it does work with a PK ring in hand. |

When I read this description for cobra sharpie, I saw just shocked that it was for sale for $300.00 I read a Do it yourself magazine and in a magic edition of that magazine, they taught you how to make a pen exactly like the cobra pen. Total cost for the parts $12.00. How is this gimmick being sold for that high of a mark up?

Hi Chad
A) For Starters the Cobra Sharpie 2.0 is $180 not $300? so where you heard that price from I have absolutely no idea. B) The Cobra Sharpie is a precision engineered pen that has no loose internal parts and features a proper compartment for the battery so the user can change the battery themselves. Its also completely silent and has a discreet vibration unit built in that works brilliantly. C) By all means try and make one yourself!! The original pens were hand made by moz and took 3 - 4 hours each to build and are incredibly fiddly to make. D) If a magazine is telling you how to build a sharpie with an electronic magnet detector built inside the pen that has a silent vibration unit built into the tip, then its ripping of the Cobra Sharpie which has been around for over 4 years in its original format. E) you are also getting for $180 a professionally edited and shot DVD with full explanations of how to use the pen, handling tips, various routines using the pen and also access to a 15 page professionally produced book with additional ideas, maintenance tips and other ideas. Sounds like good value for $180? or am I missing something?

Thank you for your response. I found the cobra sharpie on thecentertear.com where it is listed for $299.99 and its the first version not the second one.

Interesting site. Does anyone know who came out with the idea first?
If it wasn't Mozique I don't see any reason to buy the marketed item and instead make my own.

I very much doubt these guys came up with this originally this is recent magazine and moz made my prototype of the pen in 2004 after experimenting with various types of magnet and also metal detectors from 2000. Around that time the CP1 unit was around which was wrist strapped. but to my knowledge the idea of fitting the whole gismo in a sharpie is 100% original to Moz. We have been demonstrating the pen at various big name conventions for the past four years and have fooled many magicians. MOz got loads of request to make up pens hence the release a couple of years ago of the original version.
It may be a case of simultaneous invention but I doubt it!! Do bear in mind these are sealed and professionally manufactured units that have a user changeable battery compartment and would be a nightmare to make up from scratch. You are also getting a dvd with a load of handling tips and routines.

This is something I am really considering buying, and the earlier post of making your own has in no way changed my mind. Would you really want to have to pull out a soldering iron everytime you replace a battery? Also the vibration on the homemade version seems quite violent and noisy. I don't want my spectators thinking I'm having convulsions. Not to mention the ethical dilemmas (the fact that I would have been unawares of this pen's existence if not for Mozique).
My hats tipped to Mozique for his creation, and to Doc John for taking the time to answer questions in this thread. Cheers! Luke |

Thanks for that Luke, Moz spent months of fiddling and research getting the original Cobra pen to work back in 2004 and the work shows. The new version has been co developed with Christopher Taylor who worked very hard with Moz to iron out any problems. The user changeable battery was one of the major improvements and the new version has an extremely sensitive and durable sensor which can pick up a scorpion from Outlaw at 4 - 6 inches. the Spike effect using a big neodymium shaped into a spike registers at a wopping 6 - 7 inches away.
The Cobra was never intended as a PK pen although that idea was suggested recently. Its purpose is as a very silent ( which a home made unit wont be!!) but surefire detection device and not a vibrator fitted into a pen that jumps about when put near a magnetic ring. And trust me if you use it a lot you will need to replace the battery from time to time!

Integrity aside as to someone monetizing someone elses idea, the pricing of the cobra sharpie 2 is prone to problems. The fact that the mechanism can be made AT SCALE so inexpensively is begging for someone to take plans to Beijing's Silicon Valley or sites in Shanghai where copies can be ripped before you can say "Shushu".

My comment was regarding the pricing...only.
Yes, of course one SHOULD support the one believed to be the originator. |

Many sites are lifting the price up considerably from the 99 pounds listed on the UK site. That would be about 148$ us dollars. I've even seen a site or two listing $290 as a blow out sale price!
I guess this appears to be what the market will bear. Sadly, this won't do well for the manufacturers. Price gouging is terrible. Doug Quote:
