Not only a great magician: a very loyal friend, a great human being, a generous person, a very ethical man and a brilliant mind.

Yesterday, at Christian's funeral, all the best French magicians were there next to well known French actors like Jean Reno. Christian was the foremost French Film producer with more than 70 films including at least 20 hits. Despite the presence of the entire French press and television, the ceremony in the church was very quiet and very sad for Christian, in his real public fame, was a very modest, held back and discrete member of the showbusiness community. As his daugher did explain: he just had dreams that were larger.
David Copperfield as well as Sigfried and Roy had sent a kind message to Christian's family which were read at the church. His FISM show is described in his book Soirées Fantastiques and include flip books for the effects to be seen without a DVD.

Fechner will be missed. I was lucky enough to be a friend of his and know how generous and kind a man he was.
My favorite story concerns Norm Nielen. Briefly: A delivery man showed up at Norm's with two packages. One small, one large. The small package said "OPEN FIRST." Norm opened it do find a video tape. He played the tape and it showed Christian in his living room, smoking his ever-present cigar. He was at the piano and he said, "Norman, the big box contains a trick.. let me demonstrate it for you." He then started to play the piano, and all of a sudden the piano began to float around the room. Fechner created and built the floating piano and sent it to Norm as a gift. I can't tell you the number of things he sent to me... He will always remain in my mind and heart as a kind and generous man. Magic, and the world is poorer since his passing.
