Jeff Hobson is the best, for me is the most talented comedy magician.

In front of an audience of layman, I would say the funniest comedy magician I have EVER seen is Professor Bobby Baxter. I worked with Baxter in the Richiardi show in 1983, so I figure Baxter would have been about 63 years old back then. I watched him night after night and pound for pound, the man was the funniest magician in the world (and a great manipulator) and after he did his 35 minute set, we had to have an intermission for the audience to recover enough to watch Richiardi.
From what understand Baxter is still around and nearly 90 years old.

Dana Daniels has one of the funniest acts in the business! His "No Show" is pure perfection in comedy and magic!
I also love Mr. Mysto, Mac King, Doc Eason, Skilldini, Johnny Thompson, David Williamson, Steve Bargatze and Tom Burgoon - just to name a few.
Mediocrity is greatly under rated!

Erik Tait is fantastic. Never seen anyone do such cutting edge comedy woven seamlessly into a magic act in the close-up gallery at The Magic Castle. He made John George laugh so hard he shot red bull out of his nose. True story.

Mac King!
"Tricks with your head", the book he and Mark Levy wrote has got some of the funniest and most shocking nearly impromptu tricks I have ever read.
ie:
- Breaking your girlfriend's cat's neck!
- Slapping a friends in the face and getting away with it! (YOU HIT A TREE!)
- And the grand daddy of them all... Bursting your own eyeball at the breakfast table and letting all the fluid pour out onto your plate!
The guy is seriously disturbed and is a genious.
A good runner-up for me would be Mr. Tom Mullica!

Oh... And the Amazing Johnathan... although his routine seems to have been fairly unchaged for a long time... He's still funny as heck though.

OMG!
Dave Williamson is an "Evil Comedic Genius"! No, really. He had me bent over laughing during his lecture, close-up, and stage show at the Kutztown Magic Convertion (11/13/2009).
I've seen Hobson, Mullica, Mallone, and King. They are ALL very funny ... but Williamson had me laughing so much that I didn't care if he didn't do any magic.

A few years ago my dad & I went to see the Abracadabra magic show at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park theater. On the bill was Kohl & Company, David Williamson, Johnny Thompson and John Carney. Johnny Thompson couldn't make it due to an auto accident, so Carney did his Mr Mysto act as well as his regular show.
My dad told me it was the funniest show he had ever seen, which proves what good taste he had. He died soon afterward, so that was the last live show he ever saw. I can't think of a better line-up to finish with.

David Williamson and Tom Mullica at a magic convention in Atlanta in the 90s...
They did a video spoof of taking a break in the show to go next door at a fast food place. David was ordering and Mullica was behind the counter.
Two of the funniest working together. Incredible.

My list would have to include, in no particular order... David Williamson, Tom Mullica, Carl Ballantine, Tommy Cooper, Michael Finney, Mac King, Johnny Thompson, Dana Daniels, Scotty York, Amazing Jonathan, Jeff Hobson, Feilding West, Whit “POP” Haydn, Bob Sheets, Eric Mead, John Archer, Terry Seabrooke, Topper Martin and my good friend Simon Lovell – if you’ve ever witnessed his “Straight Jacket Escape” with the puppets and all, you’ll know exactly what I mean. I almost wizzed my britches when I first saw him do that piece… and if I remember correctly, my then eight your old son did.

There are so many great ones…Kohl and Company, Johnny Thompson, Mac King, Fielding West, Jeff Hobson, Whit Haydn, Amazing Jonathan, but my favorite is little known, because he’s been working exclusively on cruise ships for the last 20 years…JEFF PETERSON and his cute little dog “Indy”. I saw him last year on the Emerald Princess and he was beyond hysterical. The way he blended his comedy with some very impressive magic was truly magical.

Wow!! Great list but I cant believe that Paul Kozak isn't on it unless I missed him somewhere on there.
So, Paul Kozak for sure and Amazing Johnathan too. Gotta stay loyal and Walter Blaney too.

His bits remind me of Johnny Carson skits, only edgier.

Notwithstanding the notable comedic magicians performing today, I've especially appreciated how Carl Ballantine never actually performed any magic in his great act. His every effect failed to comedic success.

Pleased to continue finding that all the world's a stage.
