for the multiplying balls routine. Sometimes when I take them out of my box, they come out lopsided when something (like a deck) of cards get on top of them. When this happens, it doesn't stay in the gaff, or it is harder for the ball to "multiply."

Tony, take your sponge ball. Place it under running water. Let it soak it up. And then squeeze the water out. Let it sit for a couple minutes and it should be good as new. I do that to all my sponges before I perform for people. Keeps them extra soft too.

This really works

1. Wash trousers with sponge balls in the pockets (or use socks) - Air Dry

2. Emergency repair (!) - a drop of dish washing liquid, warm water and a Microwave - a minute on high, does the job - Caution Sponge balls hold heat!

I've used the above. It's terrific. It takes about 2 minutes for the sponges to cool and your ready to rock and roll.

How do you keep sponge balls round? Don't yell at them, and tell them everyday how much they mean to you!

This method has worked out well for me in the past. Get a glass of vodka and a glass of Zambuca. The Zambuca should be chilled. Put two sponge balls into the vodka and drink the Zambuca. After the sponge balls are saturated put them both in your mouth and press them there with your tongue. Then place the sponge balls back in the vodka and repeat this process until the vodka is gone. When you're finished your sponge balls should look round.

Disclaimer: If you are not 21 yet... you can probably go to Mexico and do this.

I like to use Goshman Super Softs, as no doubt most others here do.

However, if you're strolling around with the balls in a trouser pocket, they'll be crumpled when you take them out. So, for that enviornment, use cheap sponge balls. You can squash them in a pocket, and they'll unsquash several hours later into a sphere. Not quite so nice to use, but you can still get two of them into a spectator's hands as one ball.
