What do you think are the best impromptu coin tricks? For example, when people come up to me and ask to see a trick, I want to know the best trick I could do with their spare change.

Coins Across is a good one, with their coins or yours, though that doesn't make that much difference using regular coins as you can let them examine them before or afterwards.
You can also borrow a coin and do a vanish & reproduction sequence. Also Coin Changes are quite startling. You borrow one from them and bring one of your own into play for the changes. 11 post?...Hey welcome to the Café. -Mb

Thanks for the suggestions. I've done the coin matrix trick which is good, except I have problems with picking up the coins from the table without the spectator hearing.

Matrix is nice but get yourself Bobo's New Modern Coin Magic (about $10 bucks), there's a ton of coin tricks to learn in there.

Richard Sanders has a great impromptu routine that has you turn a borrowed penny into a quarter and then give it to the spectator. Thus making them 24 cents richer. If we were real magicians this is what we would do.
I beleive it is either on The Sankey/Sanders Sessions or The Ricahrd Sanders show. Kevin |

Coins to the spectator's hand (with an extra coin) is in my opinion the best for it's a coins across as recommended by Marion but it involves the audience into the effect: this is a considerable difference in my opinion.

I've always liked Millikin's Transposition, done with pennies and quarters.

If they just hand you one quarter (and you can ring in a duplicate quarter),
You might as well do a coin under spectator's watch effect. This plays as strong or stronger than most of the other coin work I do, and it can be done impromptu. (if you're both wearing watches). Also, if you can muscle pass a quarter... The muscle pass making a coin fall up is always very impressive.

Gregory Wilsons' "a questionable trick" is a fun inmpromptu trick that I like very much.
