What is your favourite 'street style' three card monte routine?

By street style, I'm referring to hype based, bent card, ungaffed routines that draw on the traditional scam. (i.e. not skinner, colour, ultimonte etc.)

The Three Disk Monte Documentary and Disks are available here.

Three Card Gold - Chef and Whit have put a great routine together here but generally I don't usee the 3 ace finish

or just jazz it!

I saw Darwin Ortiz perform his three-card monte about 25 years ago and felt it was about as perfect as it can get. Give or take a move I have been performing relatively the same routine ever since.

Here's what I find the best ending :
when only 2 cards are remaining face down on the 'table', for some (false) reason the performer seems to look behind his shoulder for a few seconds,
so it seems he doesn't look at the cards for a moment;
during this time a stooge quickly returns face up one of the 2 remaining face down cards to show the sucker that this is 'the good one' and quickly put it back face down;
then the stooge asks the sucker if he wants to put a high bet on it with him and they'd share the benefit.
Usually the poor man put all his money on the card and when the performer reveals THE card, it's not the winning one anymore (lol).
Then they quickly stop the game and go away with all the money.

Michael Vincent does a wonderful Three-Card Monte routine.

Vernon's is still a great one.

Listen to Whit about Vernon's routine. When I was first breaking in, I knew how to ready up and put in the lug because I had leaned that routine. I used almost the exact same moves in the same order to break my first mark. Vernon DEFINITELY got his info from real players, or else he took the routine from erdnase, figured out how to do a bent corner, and came up with something very close to what players use.

In fact that may be more likely, because while magicians bend the corner up, every player I've seen bends the corner DOWN. Good reasons for this, too. We also bridge the cards a little differently to facilitate putting in the lug, and taking it out again.

I guess I should add I just perform three-card monte as a demonstration for entertainment purposes. Darwin's routine doesn't require the audience to guess where the card is but the routine still creates great excitement and involvement.

Rene Levand has a nicely put together routine. He uses only one hand. If you toss the cards as you hold a pint at the local pub you could have fun with it. Truely there is no reason you can't do it with one hand.

I hung out with a crew in London last week who worked one handed. The tosser held cash in one hand and threw with the other.

Among my 'stuff' I found Stuart Judah's manuscript, published in 1964. Does anybody still do his routine?

It's ENTERTAINMENT.Where's your video?It IS from 1974.It's ez to knock.

God's grace rocks! It makes a good cups and balls routine look pretty boring in comparison.

Well I really enjoyed it. Real old school slights. I knew what was going on but still struggled to keep up at times.

Did I just hear the sound of a Gauntlet being thrown down?

"That was the curious incident," remarked Sherlock Holmes.
