I was wondering how many Tenyo Collectors are on this forum. I would consider if you have over 30 Tenyo tricks to be considered a Tenyo collector. Or is that too high or too low?

Copy and paste the list below and add your name to the list when you post. Also add in how many Tenyo branded tricks you have.

Just curious Smile

Hello,

I'm new here.
I am just starting to collect Tenyo.
Does MagicWorks count? I do have all of those in box.

Quite a collection in just a few months. I was wondering where you are buying your tricks from. Are you picky about what your buying, or just buying anything you don't have? 23 arriving soon? Wow, Did you find a large lot somewhere?
I'm curious because I just started too and have about 40 tricks.
Just looked at another post, and saw that your buying in Japan. Do you go there?

Hi Edshern,

Sorry for the late reply.

Initially I was thinking of getting as many as I can, but you will come to realize that some of the effects (including some very early releases) may not be that fantastic, so there will come a stage where you will probably become more selective.

The first few tenyos that got me interested was Eye of the Idol and Mini Morphosis.
Those you need some luck and work to hunt down. These are not seen in Japan much nowadays and I sourced mine in USA and Sweden respectively.

For those still in circulation, I'm buying from japan online shipped to a domestic address and then forwarded to me by courier. I browse through yahoo japan shopping and have my colleague help me purchase as he stays over there. They are available at very decent prices.

Downside will be the japanese instructions. For the easier tricks, the illustration helps, for the more complicated tricks requiring explanation, I will probably need some help.

I tried emailing Tenyo japan and they have been quite helpful, but they require me to post to them the ORIGINAL instructions in Japanese, before sending the English ones by post to me. I have not taken up their offer because I think I would still want to keep the japanese originals, and also I am afraid that the instructions may get lost in the mail and if that happens, I'll be screwed Smile

I was more in favour of doing a scan of the instructions but that will amount to a big pile of instructions to scan, and subjected to Tenyo's approval.

So perhaps I will try to seek help over at the Café from fellow memebers, on some of the translated instructions.

I do not have time to go through everything at one sitting. I suppose I will be going though one at a time, and try to appreciate and master each one before I move on to the next. But its tempting to rip everything open all at once. lol.

Is there any kind of trading forum anywhere? Seems like most of us have duplicates of something or pieces we might not want to hold on to. It would be interesting if there was a way to list items you want to trade. Also, good way for us "newbies" to build our collections.

Just my .02

I have 235+ of the standard list of products listed on the Tenyo Japan site plus majority of the MB licensed products (electronic or otherwise). The main items I'm missing are the more valuable specials released many years ago e.g. paddle collection & coin box collection etc.
I've been collecting since I was around 12 years old (I'm 42 now!). I'm a huge fan of Tenyo and have shown my collection and lectured on them at various magic societies around the UK. I've never liked that many magicians see Tenyo as just cheap plastic rubbish and I've worked hard to dispell that.

Lucky you...sounds impressive!

However, I'm proud to announce that my collection grew a tiny little bit since last time, so the current amount reads: 94 different ones and 288 all together.

No need to worry that your top rank among us collector's might get endangered quite soon...! Smile

My collection too has grown since my first post.
Now at 51 tenyo tricks.
However, I have learned a lot since I first started.
I am definitely not a completist. I have no need to accumulate all the tricks.
I am now more inclined to just keep those I really like showing, or those that I think are exceptionally clever. So soon I will probably start selling off those that don't fit my criteria, and keep hunting for those that do.
