You are not very specific in the help your asking for. From what it sounds like, you do not own the illusions, but are looking for someone to tell you how they're done. You can't get good at the illusions unless you have them to practice, no matter how much advice you get.

You live in England, so why not join the Magic Circle or some other society and get friendly with other performers with experience.

I don't understand how you can get "physical practice" if you don't own the illusions. Are you asking for someone to lend you their illusions so you can practice with them? Illusionists take great pride in maintaining the secrecy of their effects. They have invested tens of thousand of dollars in the illusions and often, those illusions represent their livelihood. I would be very surprised if anyone would be willing to expose such illusions to you.
Now, if you were looing for advice/guidance on the construction of an illusion (assuming it's not proprietary), or if you are looking for suggestions on the performance of an illusion you already own, that would be a different story. That type of assistance does not involve the exposure of methods. As was previously suggested, there are quite a number of books and plans on the market that you can purchase. In fact, if you want to really learn how to perform an illusion, you need to first understand the theories, limits and practicalities of its construction. This takes time and research, but it will make all the difference in the world in the long run. As with all things worth pursuing, there are no shortcuts. Kent

On Aug 15, 2015, undertaker1 wrote: Five years ago you posted that you needed "help" with handling "the following illusions -the buzzsaw -thin box -zig zag - lights through" , which apparently you did not actually own, so the request for help with how to perform these illusions was not credible , because you have to own the props before you can start working on a peformance. Now five years later you show up again to announce that now you have a "jigsaw illusion" , but need help with handling assistants and the performance. Really ? In five years you haven't studied and learned anything more about performing illusions ? That's kind of hard to believe ... You claimed (five years ago) you owned a buzzsaw illusion ... or maybe you just claimed that you had "access to" a buzzsaw ? It was sort of difficult to tell from your very vague posts. Even if you had "access to a buzzsaw" (a real buzzsaw) you must understand that is totally irrelevant in terms of peforming the buzzsaw illusion, right ? That's like saying you want people here to tell you how the Sword Through Body illusion works because you have "access to a sword" ... that's ridiculous. Now you are saying you own a "jigsaw illusion" , but of course that's not at all the same thing as the buzzsaw illusion you were asking about previously. So please clarify what you are asking. Are you asking how to perform the jigsaw illusion ? If you own it then you know how it works. It's not that difficult. This forum isn't about revealing methods, so if you're asking for an exposure of the method then forget it. On the other hand, if you purchased the jigsaw prop and you're unsure of exactly how it should look when it is presented then you can find examples of performances on YouTube. (here's just one example I found with a quick search: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRasvDA_rkk . Here's another: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJcPO4r10BY ) Where did you purchase your jigsaw illusion ? If you're having difficulty with using the prop then why not ask the person who sold it to you for help with how to perform it ... most reputable magic dealers will help you with an item you purchased from them. |
