I thought of a couple presentations for the economic crisis yesterday. They fit standard routines:
1. Mismade Bill "Let me show you what the pressure of the economic crisis has done to most people's finances. Money is only worth half what it once was and we seem to have less and less...diminishing returns...(folding and pressing bill). All the pressure and stress can make finances confusing and all mixed up...(unfolding and displaying the Mismade Bill)." If you want to restore it: "Of course, American optimism and ingenuity can create an equal-and-opposite reaction, a force to be reckoned with! (folding the and pressing the bill) Then we'll see a return to sanity and stability... (unfloding and displaying the regular bill)" 2. Pen through Bill as Restoration "The economy has taken a lot of damage in the past few years; you might say it has taken quite a punch...(punching pen through bill). Those who have felt it worst might even say there's been a rip...(ripping pen through bill without showing bill clearly). But--like magic-- American optimism, ingenuity, and hard work, will bring a change! (Show bill completely whole!) Any other ideas for presentations during the financial crunch?

Using Extreme Burn: When I step into the checkout line at the store, I have a stack of $20's. By the time the stuff is totalled up, it has become a stack of $2's. Don't understand how that happens.

If you have CubaLibra or any of its clones you can present many stories about accountants and how they fudge figures and cover up mistakes.

Since I may not be able to afford 20s much longer, I may need to use "Extreme Burn" to turn one dollar bills into two dollar bills...
Presentation: to double my money! Then if things really get bad and I have to cash in my 2s, I'll turn magazine clippings into ones... Presentation: to make money!

Here's a link to a video from Yahoo! on the new $100 bills being produced to combat the more than 500,000 "superbills," counterfeit bills supposedly produced in North Korea with such high quality paper and ink that they are very hard to detect.
superbills This might afford a good presentation...if you can afford it.

I sent a routine with a purse frame (the chameleon skin purse) for Ken's book on the fantastic Tango's T.U.C. The routine's theme is the economic crisis and the way magicians protect and can help spectators in getting protected against this type of situations

Changing $20 or $100's to $1's (or your own countries currency) could also be done.

What about a routine whereby you predict the lotto?
