Sal P. is a very nice guy.....I only met him once and it was a pleasure. Tell him that Jeff, the marked card specialist, said hello. We met in 2008 in Vegas.

And you can get this electric holdout from taobao.com for about 12 euros.
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=5859027354 if you do not understand chinese, you can buy over yoybuy.com agents... as I understand taobao is Asian ebay ... |

I would like to know if anyone has experience with the electric version. My local pro-shop gave me one as a "gift". Turns out the sensor is constantly active. So it just takes the card and spits it right back out, no "holding". It has 2 buttons, but they do not seem to respond. Anyone familiar with this? as I may never use it, but it not working irks me. Thanks.

There is an old similar shirt holdout device on Cardshark.com that resembles this item to the Tee and it was used to switch cards in and out of play by using the shirt technique. Why can't this item be used in the same way? Stop being closed minded and invent your own gambling stuff/items. If I thought like many of you think I wouldn't have made a new move out of it. You have to experiment, make up sh** and invent. The next statement that I have is what about attaching this gamblers hold out with velcro to a Martin's/Kepplinger hold out and let the device be transported down the sleeve to your hand and then you do a card switch; this will prevent the extended piece from being shown even though you can cut that part off to avoid it being shown if necessary. Viewers this device has a lot of potential if you all stop being closed minded. Oh one more thing. The guy in the video who demonstrates this hold out is definitely not a gambler and doesn't have the slightest idea what the hell he's doing or to do with it. Take care for now Respectfully Doc |

Hello DOC.
How are you doing? Your disagreement with my thoughts on the holdout are duly noted .........although I'm still taken to wondering if it's ultimate potential might be best explored by having it built into a table? Good to "see" you DOC. |

What popcalinda linked to looks like it could produce some serious amount of noise. Chinese products this inexpensive usually neglect giving attention to these "minor" details. Also, the description lacks mentioning anything about it being silent, and the demo has music(?) added, so I think there's a good chance this thing produces an unacceptable amount of noise. If anyone buys this particular product then let us know how it is.
It's a pleasure for you to stop by, Doc. |

Maitre D, you are maybe right. But for that price, you can get one and check. You think that $150 versions are better then this, or someone is just making good profit getting them for $20 and reselling for $150?

The $150 one looks better to me and is probably worth the extra money. But who knows, it's just a guess. I've tried neither.

That Ghost switcher looks horrible. It's not even worth a presentation in a magic gambling demo.
Would not go near that! |

Just a thought that builds on or at least partially builds on adding the holdout to a close up pad, but you might be able to put the gamblers holdout (electronic) in dean dill's proudction pad (if it would even fit)? This was way you could quickly do a one for one switch. Might be worth looking into actually . . . hmmmm.

So you know some gamblers who use close-up pads?

You mean you never heard of, or saw, a professional gambler walking up to a casino Blackjack Table, plunking down his closeup pad on the layout prior to hand mucking on the game?
