Anyone know anything about this? If the entire unit is truly contained inside a thumb tip, that's kinda cool:

It's a long story, but I ended up with this. And, it's pretty cool.

I don't know how this compares with FISM Flash brightness-wise. Probably not as bright.

But, it's all built into the TT, and it's easy to do. It's sort of like a D'Lite on steroids, I guess.

You charge it up and it lasts for 100 flashes apparently.

It does look good but I would think it would be difficult to use in the context of a routine, especially using cards. Seems like you'd have to slip it on for the magic moment. ???? I'm just sayin!

Price ($165) seems kind of high for a D'Lite on steroids. Is the flash activated electronically, or by physical pressure? If electronic, I suppose the price is justified, but...it still seems kind of high. Am I wrong?

I can't imagine using this during a routine with cards, either.

It's activated with pressure. It's all contained in the TT, which I think is a good thing.

This strikes me as something I might use but only in certain situations. Not during my normal routine with cards, coins, mentalism, etc.

And, it *is* a little expensive.

Still, if you have a good use for it, this is a pretty cool little device.

Can you fit anything else in the TT, or is all available space taken up by the whiz-bang circuitry?

I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

I suppose you could get something else in there (besides your thumb), but I would be afraid it might damage the electronics.

There is a nice demo of Bob Fitch [yes,THE Bob Fitch] performing a nice vanish with this device on Marc Antoines website.

One nice thing about this is that there's a one second delay after it's activated.

Stevens Magic has this available (product page with video). It is pretty bright, and is plug in rechargable (it comes with the cord to do this).

Robert you said "Not during my normal routine with cards, coins, mentalism, etc".
I'm a little unclear. May I ask why? Thanks!

Well, I went ahead and took the plunge after talking to Shawn at Stevens Magic Emporium. If it is even half as good as I feel it will be, I can think of lots of uses for it. Currently it's on backorder, but I look forward to receiving it.

Let us know what you think.

By the way, anyone know the name of the move Fitch uses in that demo, like an upside down french drop? Thanks.

I meant that it would be difficult to do card or coin tricks with a TT on.

Im sure paul wilson spoke about this the last time I saw him... looks nice but I'm just trying to figure out if I would have a use for it

Is the rechargeable battery replaceable? When the battery is goes, has your money gone also? Rechargeable batteries only have a life of about a year.

Thanx Robert. When I said "still waiting" I meant for my order to arrive

Anyway, it finally arrived this afternoon. Haven't had a chance to really work with it yet, but what I've seen so far- I really like! It is everything I imagined it to be... I can see a lot of potential for it.

The only drawback I've run into is that the rubber thumbtip is a little oversize (not from spectators view) and doesn't seem to stay on my thumb as securely as I would like. Other than that, it is a super device, and I can highly recommend it. If the tip were plastic, I could easily shape the opening to fit better. But this is soft rubber.

Anybody have any ideas as how to make a soft rubber tip more tightly (snug)?

A friend of mine just got the Thumb Tip Flash and he let me borrow it for a show I had last Sunday.

I made a little holder to make the steal of the tip very convenient. I took an old film container (the oval shaped 35 mm kind) and I taped it to a playing card so the height of the tip opening would rest about 3/4 of an inch below the outer breast pocket of my suit coat. I had the card part of the holder closest to my body and the container sat right against the inner part of the pocket.

I used the TT Flash in conjunction with Steve Haynes great trick Toosh. For the first part of the effect I used the heat of my hands to create the magic moment just as Steve teaches.

After that part of the effect, I asked where she thought her card of happiness was, she said, in my breast pocket. As I patted my pocket and said... here? I easily and invisibly stole the tip during the patting gesture. I then asked if she would like to have her card of happiness back in a very magical way? Of course, she said yes. I told the audience I would let them see the moment the card left my pocket and was magically transported back to Cathy. Then, with apparent empty and wide open fingers I activated the flash to create the magic moment. It was a very cool moment, way better than snapping my fingers or any other magic action I can think of.

Okay, back to the tip. I personally liked that it was a soft tip. In my case, it fit well and was really a good match for my skin tone. When it was time to remove the tip, it was a simple matter to hold the tip against my thigh with my fingers, slip my thumb out and shift the tip into a finger palm position and ditch it in my side pocket at the appropriate moment.

I hope my experience helps someone out there,
Glenn

Sounds very nice, I like the routine

Im on a magic diet. (Saving up for a big spend on my birthday) but I'll have to keep an eye on this one for maybe a later purchase. Sounds like a handy utility to add a bit of magic

I wonder if these were made in different sizes. As I'm fooling with it and getting the feel for it, I'm finding that it's just too big to stay on my thumb unless I keep my thumb pointing upward. Of course the alternative is to keep my index finger pressed against it to hold it in place. BTW, I am average in size, not big, but certainly not small.

If the band aid suggestion isn't enough, they make stick on pads for adjusting shoes. (I have a narrow heel.) You can buy them at any shoe store. You might try cutting down oen of those...

That's a good suggestion Cyberqat- Thanx! I did try your bandaid suggestion and it just didn't work out very well. Maybe shoe stick-ons will provide the solution. Again, thank you.

Since nobody else has mentioned having this problem, I'm starting to think that maybe I received an odd size thumbtip or maybe it was stretched too much while the work was being done on it by the creator. I actually have to press my index finger against the tip to keep it from falling off unless I keep my thumb pointing up. Is anyone else having to deal with this? I love the device and the effect, but this aspect of it is a real downer.

Blsorg,

I'm sorry to hear about your woes. I just took a look at my buddy's tip to see if I could figure anything out, but unfortunately I didn't.

I did notice with his tip that the workings in the tip are on a bit of an angle and there is some room for my thumb to kind of wedge behind the inner workings.

If you can't solve your problem, I would shoot off an email directly to the creator. My friend has always had good luck resolving any issues he's ever had (with different things he's bought) by making direct contact. The guys that build these kind of tricks are usually very accommodating and they want you to be happy.

Good luck,
Glenn

Thanks for your input Glenn- Actually I can shove my thumb in hard & wedge it somewhat, but am concerned about damaging the circuitry. I sent Stevens Magic Emporium a note about it & received a reply. Although they were polite, they didn't offer any further assistance.

Well I finally resolved my problem (more or less)... I absolutely love this flash unit, but the opening (rear) of the thumbtip is too large to stay on my thumb securely while moving my hands about or letting my hands hang down. Others I've talked with & received messages from have had the same problem. I tried some different materials and glues as a filler, but no success for different reasons. Finally I figured out that if I give the thumbtip a little twist after insertion it will stay on my thumb much better. So there's a little tip for those of you with the thumb flash unit. Hope it works out well for you too!
