This is a piece of conversation I had with a young man who came to me after my show. He wanted to know more about me so I do the same
Me: "what do you do?".
Him: " I'm a Mentalist"
Me: "Really?? Show me something"
Him: "sorry, I don't have my property right now".
Me: "???? You don't have your brain???"
There are so many people like him around us. Magicians or "mentalist" who cannot perform without the help of property, gimmick or tool.
They are fun to mess around with 
BE GOOD, if you can't then BE CAREFUL, if it's hard then BE BAD!!!

I must admit, announcing you are a magician or mentalist and then not being able to follow it up is bit of a downer.

My question, I you say you are a cellist, clearly without your instrument, would they ask you to play something? I am sure Comedians and Magicians/,memtamlist are asked to perform off the cuff and are expected to be able to do so. I have to agree, we should not make claims we cannot back up!
