I've seen Ben Whiting and Mario Morris perform so far. Both did an excellent job and had great audience reactions.
No trees were killed in the making of this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

Anyone else who was there should feel free to chime in and share their own personal experience; it would be interesting.... Summary The School for Busking at McBride’s Magic and Mystery School was a fantastic experience that I would recommend for anyone at different levels. Though it took a little effort on my part to ensure that I got what I wanted out this, it was a pleasure to meet, learn, and hang out with everyone. Here is quick recap: Day 1 The first day of class started later than expected because I missed the memo so I ended up arriving early. I wasn't the only one but Justin and Abby were happily waiting for us. They were the perfect hosts making us feel welcome as we waited for the others to arrive. We were given a tour of McBride's house/school, treated to performances, had break out sessions, introductions and goal assessments, Mario's lecture, and then met at the Renaissance Fair (Ren Fair). I appreciated the performances that were done and how selected performances were used to session with. You picked one performance that you found interest in and learned it. Nothing new here, but I think this was beneficial for those that didn't come with any material; especially, since we are supposed to go out and busk. For me it was just something extra to consider. The main event was Mario's lecture that really “unpacked” the details of working the streets. I've been to two lectures on the subject but Mario provided insight that the others just didn't cover. The best part, mentioned later, is seeing the lecture in action. The Ren Fair was a huge bonus for me because I have never been to one of this capacity. The main performers were Mario, Serge, Ben, Bizaro, Josh and Dendryl who were good at what they do. There was much to be gained in watching these guys at work. Watching Mario work, you can put together the elements in his lecture to his actual performances. Later, it was optional to go out to the strip to see Master Diaz work by the Mirage, Juggler Josh and Dendryl by the Harley Davidson, and Tim Wright at Freemont. Though it was an optional part of the schedule, I really think it should have been part of the agenda where we could of went as a group. Perhaps the logistics for this is easier said than done but leaving this as an option created a conflict in schedule for me; so I missed it Day 2 The next day was done completely at the Ren Fair at a castle hosted by McBride's friends. The scene was set where we had our own stage and back stage area. In the back stage area Mario finished up his lecture; we had the opportunity to see others busk; busk ourselves; work with McBride; and work with other students. I felt it was mainly up to you to gain any benefit out of this day. Again, I gained a lot of insight watching the performances and having sessions with everyone. Mario consistently pulled a nice tip followed by a fat hat. The best part of this day for me is when Juggler Josh and Dendryl gathered us together to perform. We just had to do one routine. Meanwhile, Josh and Dendryl gathered the crowd and introduced each of the acts, then closed and hatted the crowd. For some us, this was our first hat and great way to get your feet wet. Another bonus was the drum and fire event led by McBride. This was truly a magical experience; though outside the context of busking. It was very nice to have been a part of that. I just didn't want to leave, as McBride said, “its the gravity; the gravity here is strong”. Day 3 The last day was considered a bonus; but here is where everything actually came together. This is what I came out here for in the first place. My goal was really to have someone to see my complete show and provide honest feedback and actually try it in the real situation. Mario really put this together as he organized everything this day. Everyone performed while Mario watched and took notes for critique. After everyone's performance, we met in an area to do a feedback session. I cannot help emphasize that this is what helped tremendously and really brought everything together. From what I understand, this is how Mario's school operates which is the real deal to me. Though McBride was not here this day (to some disappointment), Mario held it together. In the end, photos were taken, acts filmed by Lorie (thank you), and everyone exchanged goodbyes and contact information. After that, some of us headed over to Denny and Lee's and hung out thanks to Josh. I hope this gives you a little insight on my experience, now add the Las Vegas atmosphere and you have the picture...I guess

Its 2012 and man does time fly fast. McBride and Mario are teaming
up again and I can not help myself; I have to go again. Is anyone else going? Since last year, I've been working the streets of NYC and the board walks of NJ with my side walk show. I'm looking to take more advantage of this event as I have more real street experience under my belt. As I've posted in other threads, I'm working on my finale, so this would be good grounds to play with a few ideas. Plus, with Mario and McBride there....I'm confident that there would be some good ideas flowing. Also I plan on taking full advantage here to work it. Upon my arrival, I'm going right to the strip and do my thing. As soon as we get to the ren fair, I'm going to do a show. Then next day, I'm going to just bust out shows (in between the teaching and so forth). You see the more you do, to have Mario and McBride watching and providing input can be priceless. I really can not wait and the time is quickly approaching. It's an experience I highly recommend to anyone. So who else out here is going? Or is working in Vegas (I'll come and check out your show and (of course) tip your hat)...maybe we can share a pitch or you can let me know the best areas to work.

Rumor has it that we have some special guest appearances at this
spot which will make it even better than ever; I think. It will be a matter of time management between performance time and talking to the pros/teachers...I really can't wait for this event...sounds like it will be better than last year...

5 days to go for this event and I can't wait for the packed instruction
and opportunities that are planned for this event. I see it this way:
Based on posts and confirmation, I think we are getting the best of two worlds. The guy who works the bigger show and the guy who works the sidewalk show...so to get pieces of info/feedback from both of these guys in the live will be price less....I think...I'll let you know when I get back...
