Let me start of by saying Slim must be Craigs best dvd out yet . There are a collection of card material that perfected and ready to be used .
There are seven routines on there which are brillliant . Rocky's Triumph - This is craigs version triumph routine . This is a absoulte fooler for laymen and magicians . It is so convincing its one of the best triumphs I have seen . The convincer is great as they see face up cards going into face down cards and they all sort them self out in the end . This trick is quite easy to learn and I have done this a couple of times and no one sees the end coming as you produce a four of a kind at the end . Mr T's Knock Out - For anyone that knows Craig you know he will like sandwhich routines and this one is awsome . Its basically a four pharse routine with a ending that no one sees coming . Total Workout - A while ago Craig released a dvd callled Locked In A Room Without Coins and out a trick on their called Lance Burton Trick . And that was a fantastic trick . This is on the same lines but with visual changes and another KICKER ending that you don't expect . This is great for groups of people as they are all watching you so carefully change jokers into their signed card . This is a real worker and I will be using adding this to my routine . Twisted - This trick blends with magic and mentalism using the jacks and just the selected card . Micky's Mish Mash - This is a good routine with AWSOME visuals and it is very clever and you will want to add it your card magic repertoire. Yo Adrian - This must be my one of my favourtie tricks on here . Its a great visual trick producing four of a kind with the selections . And then you just use the four of a kind and the two selections and they swap places and for the end the jacks have been in a place no one things is possible . I love doing this as it gets reactions and is all from a normal deck and you can change parts of it . Its great . THE BONUS TRICK - I must say this is the best bonus trick I have ever seen on any magic dvd . This is craigs version of moving hole matrix but signed . I have done this to people and it frys every single person . This is what happens . You have the spectator pick a card and sign it on the face . And you then cleanly punch four holes into the corners of the card . You then ask the spectator to put their hand flat and you place their card on their hand then you move the holes into the corner . Its the best moving hole matrix ive own an ever SEEN . When I do this people straight away pick the card up and try and move the holes back it is the BRILLIANT . They do freak out . Its worth the price of the dvd alone and I would of been happy to purchase the hole matrix for the price of the dvd . For anybody who is thinking about getting this I would strongly recommened this dvd and this is stuff you will use . Well done Mr Petty . |

I don't usually write reviews as by the time I get something, it's all already been said. However, I am suprised there has not been more comments as this is really good.
I went to IBM convention on Saturday, which sadly was one of the dullest conventions ever. However on a positive note I picked this up along with a few other bits. DVD is full of solid material. My favourites being the mer t knock out and the moving hole trick. Moving hole is perhaps not the best version ever but it is very good and definitely one of the most practical versions, meaning it can be repeated easily. The othe effects are all solid. Whilst I wouldn't say this DVD will change the world, it is full of solid tricks that are commercial. I will definitely be using at least a couple of the tricks. Good stuff and a bargain at £20 |

Thanks for the review Paul, glad you enjoyed the DVD. It's a shame there hasn't been more reviewed about Slim! I would review it myself on the Wizard Product Review but I have a feeling I might be a little biased!
If anyone wants more information just let me know. Craig |

I think you should review it on the WPR, I would enjoy that.
This one is already on my list.
After much soul searching about a signature, I decided not to have one.

I picked this and 'Locked in a room..' up at the recent LADS convention .
I agree that there are some solid routines taught on this DVD. Positive - varied FASDIU (from a shuffled deck in use) material that is workable, & offers plenty of segueway opportunity. Not so positive - Craig, I'm honestly pleased that you have shed some weight in the gym... but I don't really want to see you and an audience member half naked, while doing a card trick.. Positive - Clear camera, sound & explanations. What will I not use? I was initially attracted to the bonus moving hole effect, but I'm not sure that I will bother with the (albeit simple) set up, as I am trying to limit the amount of gaff based card effects I carry at a gig. What will I use? Rocky's triumph is now my go-to FASDIU triumph (i'll still perform my own gaffed version...), replacing the stonking Sankey trick 'Back in Time'. It also has a logical kicker that sets you up to perform a killer small packet trick. I also quite like Mr T's knock out (once I get over the gym backdrop, I'll probably try a few other bits). Final comment - If you want to expand your ungaffed arsenal, this DVD is well worth a look. Much improved camera work, but the gym setting really did not work for me. If I only ever perform Rocky's triumph, I would have had my money's worth. I have been using 'back in time' for years, so such a solid worker as this is money well invested. PS Credit where it is due, at LADS, Craig worked his a*se off, demonstrating lots of stuff while always being polite. Good man! |

Review: Slim by Craig Petty
Let me start by saying what this DVD is. It’s a collection of eight card routines using an ordinary pack of cards. Most of these routines are impromptu, magician foolers and creatively constructed to flow with build throughout each effect. They are all verbal based, meaning you cannot perform these effects to music if that is your thing. They do include rather advanced card moves such as culling which while briefly explained, you are expected to know some of these moves going into the effects. Between each effect, Craig does an intro set in the gym. I wasn’t found of this, and fast-forwarded through several of them. Especially with the ones where he was naked in the sauna: I could have done without that visual! Let me start by saying the positives. 1) Technically this is far greater than all previous Wizard FX production DVD. Everything was clearly heard without having to put the volume up high. There were no noticeably glitches or de-interlacing as there have been in previous releases. The camera is always pointing where it should be and all additional background noises have been removed like bird sounds and gym equipment. It is well lit, and while the menu is basic, it does the job fine. Finally we have a DVD which has no bad points to remark about. 2) Craig’s Teaching manor is superb. He is a very friendly open person who comes across as genuinely wanting you to learn the effects. He is as clear as he can be in the instructions although as previously stated, this DVD is not for beginners and he does expect you to know how to do a few things like Elmsley and Cull before watching the DVD, so while he glosses over how to do big moves like that, it is intended for the more advanced workers amongst us anyway. 3) Value for money is again great. There are 8 effects, 7 of which just use ordinary cards (the last using a DF Card). I personally loved his Rocky’s Triumph which is a superb trick. The other effects will all appeal to different people depending on taste. I’m not a card magician however and can only just about Elmsley. So while I won’t be taking a lot away from this, many, many people will. The negatives: 1) Not a lot to say here actually. I have already covered the fact that it is for advanced card workers. Beginners could learn all the tricks but they would never be able to perform them as smoothly as Craig does until they get additional teaching material on how to cull etc. 2) I know it’s called ‘Slim’, and he does explain why its called that on the DVD. I was thinking when I bought it that it was going to be a collection of packet tricks, but instead most of the effects really did require a full pack of cards. Even if the ending of the trick only used a couple (like a sandwich) the deck was still used to create the effect. So don’t buy this thinking it’s a collection of packet tricks. It really is more of a full deck DVD in my opinion. There is nothing wrong with that, just the title might make you think these are all 8 card effects or something like that. 3) Craig in the Sauna!!!!!!! Conclusion: This is a great card DVD for the card magicians amongst us. I’m not a card magician and even I bought it, which goes someway to saying how impressive these tricks are which convinced me to buy it. You would not go wrong purchasing the DVD and you will learn some great routines. Just remember to close your eyes during the Sauna scene! |

Finally, reviews are coming in, thanks for all your positive comments guys.
The triumph routine has been a big effect for me for a while now and is generally the routine I perform for magicians when I am handed a pack and asked to do a trick. Different performers are coming back and saying different effects are their favourites so that's good as well, there is something there for everyone apparently. Also thanks for the kind comments Cameron, I can't wait for you to see the DVD, I would love to see what you think. Thanks again and please keep the reviews coming, as I said earlier it is very frustrating that we cannot look at the DVD on the Woiard Product Review!! Craig |

Bought my copy last week and have had some time to check out the DVD. I like this alot. A lot of good routines that do not use gaff cards. That is always a plus, when you can start clean and end clean. Though the hole matrix routine is the only routine to use a few gaffs- it is MOST worth it! This is a killer routine. All in all- there are a lot of workers routines on this DVD. Must say- Good Job Craig!
