I haven't yet looked at the DVD but read through the book. It's good, some quite original technical ideas and unusual sleights, but so far I have not seen anything that I particularly like. Maybe the performances on the DVDs will convince me otherwise.
Definitely not "Smoke and Mirrors" material. |

These are the effects I liked so far:
Bullet Party Poker Paradox Revised (my favourite rutine) Mega 'Wave Wicked (you can watch John perform it at Wizard Products Rewiev this week) Im sure I will get hooked up on other effects from the DVDs later on, but these were the ones I liked after the first sitting.

Ordered the book! I've been performing Mega Wave since the release of his booklet last year, but I'm excited about Bullet Party!

Folks - just been collecting up some of the early comments we have received about John Bannon's BULLETPARTY. check this out:
'If refudiate is officially a new word, I want to add another one to the lexicon - Bannonized. That's the only way to describe how I felt after the barrage of miracles on these DVDs.' - David Acer ‘Bannon and Big Blind Media has done it again! Another hit on their hands!’ Bill Malone ‘John Bannon is one of the greats -- and this DVD set is simply that -- great!’ Peter Duffie ‘The highest compliment I can give Bulletparty is that ONLY John Bannon could have pulled off this project, and I'm glad he did.’ Joshua Jay ‘It's another winner, and combining the genius of John Bannon with the creative powerhouse that is Big Blind Media, we have a collection that again sets a new standard that many others can only hope to achieve.’ Lance Pierce ‘Bannon has done it again! Bullet Party picks up where Bullets After Dark left off, and it's stronger and more commercial than ever.’ John Guastaferro 'Buy this DVD set and study it closely - it is superb.' Tim Trono 'Classic Bannon. What are you waiting for?' BicycleCards.co.uk ‘The best DVD release of 2011… ALREADY.’ Andi Gladwin |

Got the Book+DVD combo. I've only had time to view over a few performances and a few explanations
I've been going between Bullet Party and iCandy. I think I have ENOUGH card magic now lol. But what I can say so far. Bullet Party - The cards are included, they aren't gimmicked, just the cards you need for the routine. I WILL be using this. I sat through with the cards and followed Bannon through the instruction. This is quite an easy effect to pull off! I will be practicing this a lot! Final Verdict - An amazing spectator cutting the aces. He shows 2 easy ways to get into it, one with a overhand shuffle and one utilizing basic in the hands cuts. I WILL be using this Box Jumper - You could use the spectators hand instead of a box! All that needs to be said. I WILL be using this |

This is looking quite good. Some how I missed Bullets After Dark, I can see myself picking up both of them soon.

Check out what the AWESOME richard sanders had to say about BULLETPARTY:
'What do you get when you team the genius of John Bannon with the incredible production team of BBM. You get one BOMB of a DVD! If you are into card magic, you NEED to make this part of your collection!' Richard Sanders :) |

I love John's stuff, especially Bullets After Dark. However, I've seen two tricks on the previews and I didn't really like either. Not my style I guess. Any more reviews?

I have it and do not find the material that interesting (John is obviously a legend at this point and I buy all of his stuff automatically). I don't think there are hidden jems, if you don't like what you saw in the previews I don't think you will love the product. I think his best work is still the early Fractal series. I think there is a story about an emperor and some clothes at work here.

Wow. Okay, I'm going to have to really disagree with that. My personal faves besides Bullet Party and Mega Wave (both of which I love):
Final Verdict Box Jumper Fractcal ReCall (Basically Call of the Wild With Ungimmicked cards. What's not to love?) Fat City Revisted Wicked Four Shadow Aces Big Fat Bluff Aces All great, streamlined effects.

It may just boil down to what you like and believe in. Strangers gallery, Royal Scam, two of my favorite tricks of all time. Never really liked the original call of the wild, Mega Wave (cards too cozy) and Bullet Party too confusing, do not find the displays clean, do not think the discrepancies fly. Caveat, I have not performed these latest effects as I am sure Cameron and others have so my opinion is not based on audience reception. I wanted to like them I really did. None of the tricks are knuckle busters so maybe I will give them a whirl and report back.

I'm practicing Bullet Party for performance. I think it's simple with the presentation that John Bannon performs with. The kicker and effect itself fits me.
After I master BP on my list is Mega Wave. One of the best card tricks I think I've seen! Final verdict Fat City. Box Jumper And the rest of the *** tricks. I've gotten so much value out of this DVD! |

I can tell you from person experience that Bullet Party plays very well for lay people. It's not too confusing. The only way it would be is if you went too fast.
But, you might be right, it might just be a taste thing. I LOVE, LOVE Call of the Wild so Fractal ReCall is right up my alley. But if you don't like the original, then, well, you might not dig the new version, either.

I didn't like this release quite as much as his Bullets After Dark DVD set, but that's a pretty freakin' high standard to set. For $40, this is still something that you should absolutely pick up. There is some great material and the cards for the "fractal" packet tricks are included.
If you want to read my full review, I've posted it HERE. Caleb http://www.CalebWilesMagic.com

I reviewed this last night during the Magic Marketplace product review show and here are my thoughts:
Bullet Party by John Bannon Overall: John Bannon is back with Bullet Party. This is a 2 DVD set that contains about 16 routines ranging from easy to intermediate. If you're a fan of his work this set won't disappoint! Cons: * If you aren't a true card 'geek' then this probably won't be your cup of tea. This is nothing but card magic so you know what you're getting into * Some of the routines involve the use of gimmicks so if you are a purist this is something you should keep in mind. Pros: * The routines included range from really easy to more advanced. This gives all levels a chance to improve their magic. * Getting a peek into the mind of John Bannon is never a bad thing! This guy is creative as hell and knows his stuff! * The production quality here is just awesome and continues to set the standard for magic DVDs. * Gimmicks are included so the routines that require them aren't routines you will have wait until later to start working on. This is a really nice touch and very much appreciated! Some of my favorites: * Bullet Party -- This small packet effect rocks and is a real fooler! Have a look at the YouTube demo for the Bullet Party DVD and see this effect performed. It fooled me and I'm pretty sure it will fool you too * Final Verdict -- This is a killer version where the spectator cuts to the Aces! John calls this Final Verdict for a reason..it's the version he's sticking with and for good reason! * Box Jumper -- This is a great visual quickie with a card in the card box and a selection. This is perfect for those ADD spectators that want something quick and visual in between text messages * Mega Wave -- This is an awesome small packet miracle with not 1, not 2 but 3 surprise endings. This is just awesome. * Poker Pairadox -- A small packet matching pairs routine that is based on a texas hold'em theme. This one is a fooler and I think you will love the thinking that went into this one. Final Thoughts: For $40.00 you're getting 2 DVDs, 13 gimmicked cards and the rare opportunity to take a peek into the mind of John Bannon. This is clever card magic that is beautifully produced and I'm sure you will enjoy watching. luke |

I am a little disappointed with John Bannon's explanation on Bullet Party. I just got the DVD, and started practicing the first effect - Bullet Party, this morning, and after watching the explanation over and over, I can't seem to grasp his handling of the elmsley count. I am very familiar with the elmsley count and have been for many years, however when John does it, he just fly's by the explanation of where the cards go, and what should wind up where. IMHO he could have spent a little longer on his most favorite trick explanation. Now I have to go back down to the shop and get some hands on assistance on the proper handling of the effect rather than just being able to really soak it in from the $40 bucks I dished out for the DVD's. Word to Mr. Bannon, please spend a little more time teaching in DETAIL of how your effect and the elmsley count should be handled to make it look as clean as when you do it.
I love this effect, and I feel it deserves the respect of being able to learn in with out any doubt on how to perform it. The DVD does explain it good, but not great. Seems as though it was packed full of goodies, with out the proper instructions to perform as polished as Mr. Bannon. 3 out of 5 rating from me. Great effect, good DVD's/gimmicks, too fast of an explanation. (In my opinion) |
