"Mes(s)merize" ebook by Stefan Olschewski
This is a 23 page ebook that contains a wonderful prediction effect. The demonstration looks like this: People in the audience are instructed to write a single word on a business card and asked to seal this inside of small (coin) envelopes. All of the envelopes are thrown on stage. (How great is that?) Any person from the audience is selected to pick up several and then is asked to just select one from those. The others are genuinely thown back or whatever. The prediction is shown to be correct. If one so chooses, there is an extra kicker that really knocks some socks off. My thoughts: In the spirit of transparency, I received this as a review copy. I REALLY love the "stage picture" of people tossing their "thoughts" at you. I love it. I imagine that Stefan has a lot of fun performing this. THe method is wonderfully simple and every action seems fair and "above board". It short, I don't think that anyone would have a clue on how this could be done. Stefan has built on other's ideas to forge a wonderful prediction routine. I highly recommend this routine. With regards, Sean |

As I've said elsewhere, I think it's a fantastic buy for a $15 pre-order. Like so much of the best mentalism, it's simple.
The secret of deception is in making the truth seem ridiculous.

I am thrilled by the reactions I got so far and I am very happy to announce that the final version will feature additional ideas for routines by Luca Volpe and Mike Ince (and maybe a couple of other guys). I really hope you will all enjoy the release! Best regards Stefan |

Sorry to bother you again,
I am just happy to have received the following comment from Greg Arce: "Very nice routine with a well-constructed method and presentation. It opens up many possibilities for styles and patter lines. This would be a very good opener in anyone's act. Another nice touch was Stefan's idea for an economical version that is easier to put together. Stefan also includes many other presentations that are possible with this idea. This is a good worker's method for accomplishing what seems to be an impossible prediction of a chosen word. Loved all the thinking that went into this." And best of all: Greg also agreed to share his mes(s)merizing ideas in the book, so you can look forward to more than a dozen additional ideas for routines around the basic concept. The manuscript has already grown to 26 pages. This is so exciting! Best regards Stefan |

I have downloaded my Mes(s)merize ebook. Am very pleased with the workings.
It would make one outstanding opening act. Very clever. You would definitely need a large crowd to perform for though, maybe at least over 15 people. But what a way to start a show. |

My short review:
The BLURB: Mes(s)merize - eBook 20 USD
This is much more than just a mental effect. Mes(s)merize by Stefan Olschewski is a brand-new application of an ingenious principle that enables you to make your act more vivid, personal and interactive. Your audience will experience an ULTRA CLEAN prediction of RANDOM thoughts that involves every single spectator and plays huge even on the largest stage:

A clear wine-glass is seen on a table center-stage, containing a black envelope with a prediction. Before or during the show, the spectators are asked to concentrate on a single thought, write it down on a card and seal it in an opaque envelope. They really can write down whatever they like, there is no force whatsoever.

At your command, they all throw their envelopes onto the stage creating a mess on the floor (hence the title of the effect “Mes(s)merizeâ€). A random spectator selects any one of the envelopes (again: NO force!). Let’s assume the thought inside reads “ICECREAMâ€.

SHE removes the prediction from the glass and opens it. SHE reads the prediction aloud: it matches the freely selected thought! Now for the FINAL kicker: The lady is asked to open up the crumpled paper ball that was used to randomly select her as a volunteer. It reads: “Tonight, a beautiful lady called Annie will think of ICECREAM!â€â€¨ • The spectator is randomly selected • No switch of the paper ball • No stooges • No secret assistants • No pre-show • No fumbling • No sleeving • No electronics • They can really write down any thought • The other envelopes may be opened to show they all contain different words • Prediction envelope has a DIFFERENT color than the rest of the envelopes • Spectator opens and reads the prediction herself • You never touch the prediction • Spectator may keep the prediction and envelope, both are completely unprepared The unique principle taught in this eBook offers literally hundreds of applications, only limited by your imagination. It can even be used for memorable publicity stunts. The PDF includes more than a dozen additional ideas for mes(s)merizing routines by Greg Arce, Luca Volpe and Mike Ince! Are you ready to “mes(s)merize†your audience!? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MY VIEW : This routine follow one principle I like : "KISS" principle (KISS is an acronym for the design principle "Keep it simple, Stupid!". Other variations include "keep it short and simple", "keep it simple AND stupid" or "keep it simple and straightforward".The KISS principle states that simplicity should be a key goal in design, and that unnecessary complexity should be avoided.) All you need is a couple of manila envelopes ( or any kind of envelopes that will fit in your glass) , a black marker , a clear (wine) glass and… a little something you yill get easily for cheap ! A short preparation done prior to the show and you are reday to go. And YES the spectateur really thinks of ANY word or object. The blurb is not misleading about that. You have the normal version and even the economy version if you want to save on manila envelopes. Highly recommended. |

MESSMERIZE REVIEW
So I was sent a copy over by Stefan for review, and I read it through 2 nights ago, and I just smiled. The method is brilliant, and I can see any performer putting this into their act immediately. You do need to purchase a few things, but they are very easy to obtain. The effect will look like a real miracle to the audience, and you can concentrate on your presentation. Stefan gives two methods for achieving the effect. 1) This is the main effect.....with some envelopes, and one black prediction envelope. 2) For those that don't want to spend money on envelopes, this second method is the economical version. I prefer the first method, and I am sure I will be incoporating this piece in my act. I know many people have had discussings whether it was too strong to be an opener, but I like it as a opener or closer, depening on the other effects that you will have in your act. This is brilliant thinking, and I am glad that Stefan decided to share it with the world. I cant wait to see what Stefan comes up with next! Alex

A critique:
I purchased mine two days ago. It is quite ingenious, but in performance, the p****n *** ***** the ***d ***t ******* *t. That's a major concern with a small audience. I'll just leave it at that. Brilliant thinking as said above. |
