I've just (self-)published my first novel on Amazon (well, technically through their CreateSpace sideline), and I thought I'd share mention of it here in the Café because it's chock full of conjuring, prestidigitation, legerdemain... you know, magic!

Entitled MAGIC: AN OCCULT THRILLER, it's a spooky supernatural horror yarn, somewhat along the lines of an old Dennis Wheatley black magic novel or a Charles Williams metaphysical chiller, centered upon sinister occultists doing their thing in contemporary soccer-mom suburbia. But among the protagonists are a semi-retired old stage magician and his teen protege, and intermingled with all of the malevolent mysticism going on are a lot of classics of stage magic and sleight of hand.

The paranormal plot trades in ancient grimoires, psychic attacks, out-of-body and near-death experiences, Wiccan covens and esoteric lodges of modern magi, black and white; but also playing a prominent role are such well-known magical effects as the Cups and Balls, card tricks like Find The Lady and Oil & Water, Four Ace assemblies, Martix coin assemblies, copper/silver coin effects, even the Indian Rope Trick.

Anyway, should this pique anyone's interest or sound like anyon'e cup of tea, here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/Magic-Occult-Thriller-Reed-Hall/dp/1453874836/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1297789761&sr=8-1

I have just downloaded this and am looking forward to reading it. By coincidence my first thriller, The Gilli Gilli Man, is also available on Amazon Kindle at the moment. It's about a magician facing down an international terrorist. Lets get behind magicians being a bit creative, and buy both these books (if that is not being too cheeky!)
