Where can we access the other routines by Paul Green? (CMIIW).

I still want to know what alternatives we can do with this

A very cool presentation here.
An excellent high quality gimmick that will certainly achieve real honest wonder.

So totally fitting that Jamie has made yet another really impossible object.

I learned that the name of the creator of Matchbox penetration is sadly lost to time.
Jamie D. Grant however is going to make some real history with this next level version.

A jaw dropping illusion the size of a card box.
Crazy heavy and so fun to do!

Order early, I suspect the demand will be very high.

I have certainly enjoyed performing this for friends.
Jamie created a new classic with this wonderful effect.
Thanks again Jamie.

Sometimes I wonder if he ever takes a rest tho. With his Magic Friday, SendWonder, and some other sites he writes for, I can't imagine how busy he is.

Woo Hoo!!! I'm now the proud owner and in possession of not 1, but 2 IRs, received my 2nd one today. Jammie, thanks a million. I took out my first one last Friday evening at one of my restaurants. To say it Killed would be an understatement. Here's what I've done after reading each and every comment posted in this thread.

1. Took apart a card box and completely lined the inside with clear 2" plastic shipping tape and then reassembled it. I cut both slits in the proper place and used Scott Matte Finish Magic Tape over both slits on the outside of the box. After performing IR 11 times last Friday evening, the box showed no noticeable wear.

2. Returned the case I posted here at the Café in a previous post and purchased a different one I wear on my belt. It was easy to get the IR both in and out of the case with no problems.

3. My routine was a combination of a number of ideas I read here in this thread
1. I used the David Copperfield and the Great wall of China idea.
2. I used a full color picture of myself that measured 4.25" high x 1.5" wide. I folded the picture length ways in half.
3. I pushed my picture thru the card box several times and then removed it.
5. I then explained I really didn't penetrate the cards.
6. I used the cutting of the deck by a spectator using a knife idea.
7. I then picked up a knife from the table and demonstrated by pushing the knife thru the deck.
8. I then explained that the cutting of the deck was one possible explanation.
9. I removed the knife and tapped the metal knife on the deck and explained perhaps there really wasn't a deck of cards in the box. By tapping the knife on the deck, it masked the noise made when the moved was exeucted.
10. Placed deck in spectators cupped hands.
11. opened the box and allowed IR to slide out into spectators hands.

This is just a quick explanation of the routine I used. In all, it actually only took a couple of minutes for the complete routine. I have no idea how much this routine contributed to my tips that evening, but my tips totaled $115.00.

I'm just running around like a madman these days- Failed Magician totally called it, lol- but wanted to post to say that I love your idea of using a colour picture nonvpro! That's fantastic! I guess we could always use a business card "As a version of myself that would actually fit in this case..." as well. That's great!

Jamie was right. After working with my IR for several weeks now, I've come to the realization my IR is bomb-proof and will literally last a lifetime. I should have listened to you about waiting before I bought 2 of them. I guess I did not need a back-up after all, unless of course I lost it, which I don't see happening. Giving some thought about posting my back-up for sale or trade.

I received my IR on Friday afternoon, and struggled quite a bit with the set up. For the record my physique is quite dissimilar to the retro-guy in Jamie's poster!

This evening I solved the problem. Now I can do it in seconds....I simply use a non-slip jar opener pad. The one I use around is a foot long rectangular piece with the name of a candidate from a long-forgotten election. Most of you probably have small circular ones lying in a kitchen drawer. Give it a try. Then you can focus on the presentation, instead of the set-up.

You won't want to carry that jar opener around with you all the time, though. I believe that it will get easier as time goes on and you get the hang of it. Once I figured it out, it was easy!

Hey Jamie, a few years ago someone was putting out a plastic poker card box. It sounds like this would be a great storage box. Are you familiar with this?

Hi I was wondering if anyone had a presentation for IR that could be used for a car manufacturer, I have a corporate gig coming up for Audi and was thinking this would be great to use. I was thinking of using it as a demonstration of how strong the steel is that they use to make the cars from or something along those lines but not sure what to use for the penetration, maybe one of their business cards.
Any ideas or presentation ideas would be great.
Thanks

I have been giving this some thought and think maybe I may use a presentation along the lines of an anti theft device. Show that when the owner has the key that it will fit in the ignition without a problem, but if it gets stolen by someone it will not go in.
What do you think.

Or just give a line something like "Other car brands owners might have a heart like this, easy to get tempted by any other brands" (penetrate the box by the key). "But we all believe Audi has enjoyed a lifetime loyalty, devotion, faith and bond from their customers, so their customers have a heart like this, won't be easy to get tempted by any other car brands" (try to push the car key, it won't).

Then let them have the "wow" or "omfg" reaction when you give them the block, box and the key.

Just my 2 cents.

P.S. you can have two different sets of keys. For the first penetrating, use a car key with your handwriting of Audi brand or logo. Then when you do the final penetration, get different keys with your handwriting of different car brands.

Or, if you want, before you do the final penetration, get your Sharpie, and write big Audi name or logo on the box. Then do the final penetration using Honda, Ford, or any different brands you can have

Sorry, it might be confusing, before the final penetration, get a Sharpie, write Audi on the box, then get keys with other car brands. And with the lines, you try to push those keys in, they won't get through.

This is a good line IMHO, it will show that their customers are loyal because of their dedication of top-notch design and services.

Thanks guys!!

And here's a pic that was just posted on my Facebook wall. I can't tell you how much it means to me the Vault and IR are both being used out in the real world and not sitting in a drawer somewhere. It makes my day! Thanks for letting me share, gang!

Did IR for my best friend from High School last night. We haven't seen each other for five years. I did a number of effects, but this morning he said "I can't believe I saw you put a coin through a deck of cards, then pull out a block of steel."

Priceless.

I did IR last night for the 1st time on some friends at a party and it killed. It was the best effect they said of the night. Love this. Thanks for what I think just might be the best effect I got this year so far.

This has been great for me. I too have found it was one of my strongest effects so I came up with a way to make it more of a closing effect. This is basically just a way to make it appear as if you are inserting a card in the middle of a deck, and then going into the IR effect. https://vimeo.com/40062110

Sorry no live performance yet. Need to find a more reliable camera and camera person! LOL

That was cool, Erik! You have one heck of a deck switch! I have your melT ebook - just purchased it about a week ago - but apparently I haven't read ALL the way through it yet. Gotta get back to it soon now.

Thanks!

Thanks for getting "meLt"! That specific idea isn't in the meLt book but is based on the mini-melt(Omni-melt) idea in the book. I got such a great response because of that "little bonus idea" that I added to the melt book, that I'll probably be expanding the idea on it's own and releasing my omni deck work. It will probably be a much cheaper book in the end, as it is a much simpler concept than Melt. Anyways, This specific idea is one I'm happy to share with other IR users for free. If other IR users are interested in the idea then just ask me and I'll figure out a way to get you a write up on it. In the mean time....have fun frying people's brains with IR. It is now my current "Pride and Joy" effect!

You'll might want to use tape inside the card box. The little pieces of paper that may come off from the slot might end up in the wrong places and reveal the method.

Fortunately that isn't a concern. If it were I'd be a little peeved that you are trying to tip a method on a forum that is ostensibly against exposure. Besides...if you own IR be patient and I'll send you the write-up for here in a day or two.
