Dear Sir,
I've been working quite diligently at making sure that when I palm a card (or cards) from the top of the deck that I do not flag my thumb in the action. I've relentlessly beat this cycle of movements into my system for months and I'm happy to say that I no longer flag my thumb...when removing the cards. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to happen upon a way that I feel is natural to REPLACE the cards without said flag. Every time I put them back I feel like I'm trying to hitch a ride!
Can you offer any suggestions that may help alleviate this condition?
Most Sincerely,
Recent Inductee of Thumb Flaggers Anonymous
Be well,
Michael

Magicmike67,
The proper action will depend greatly on the context at hand. Are you discussing replacements suitable for the card table or for a conjurer? Are you able to slide the halves back towards yourself after a player or spectator has cut the deck at your right? Do you wish the replacement to occur entirely in the hands?
Once you've answered these questions satisfactorily, we feel strongly that someone of your dedication (you did after all, solve your initial problem of the flagging thumb) will have no trouble devising a suitable stratagem for a reasonable variety of instances.
Although it may not suit your needs, be sure to read the replacement strategy that is found on p. 47 of our treatise as well as the one on p. 114. Both involve replacing palmed cards during or immediately following the execution of a running cut. This is a concept we are quite fond of for a variety of reasons.
