Last year we allocated space from our tables to let vents place aftermarket figures. We do not charge for this. It is a convenience to the industry. On Friday night we also acquire an extra table when Al Good leaves and that entire table is used for this function as well. We plan on doing that again this year, although there may be some adaptations required because of the new venue.

I would like to see a vendor offering costuming for the performers, not just the figures. One of my big peeves is people who schlep on stage like they just walked in off the street. We are entertainers - we should LOOK like entertainers.

Another thought...I have been to conventions where they put up a big notice board or white board in a central place. That way people can leave each other messages like "Hey (whoever) meet me for lunch -signed (whatever)" or other messages so people who might lose track of each other can connect.
Maybe a message like "If anyone has a car here and can run someone to the mall, please call (??) in room 123."
Hope I am being clear.

Wow, those last two are great ideas Neale. Especially inviting costumers. I haven't been to the ConVENTion, but it seems like such a natural idea to have show biz costumers in the dealers room. I'm sure there are clown costumers who travel the conventions who offer other things.. vests, colorful jackets, stuff like that. It seems like they could certainly make money at a vent event, especially if they can do puppet costuming as well.

I like that message board idea Neale, something they could have right in the lobby for the convention, so conventioneers could check it as they are going to and from their rooms, if not, even having it in the dealer's rooms probably wouldn't be too inconvenient.

Oh, Mark, if you don't have a theme yet for this year's convention, you could always call it "The End of The World" convention. Dealers could have "end of the world specials"......I can see the ads on the tables, "get it now and use it quick, only got about five months......"

Sorry, guys, that I have not commented before this. We were out of town moving one of our sons to Denver for a new job and just got back (by the way Jody and I had a great time visiting with Clinton and Adelia Detweiler of Maher Studios fame while we were there..). I like the white board idea amd will try to incorporate it this year, maybe in the one of the deler's rooms. I'll have to see how tight everything is and I will let you all know!

The brochure is at the printers and will be out in about 10 days but our theme this year is "New Beginnings", which is appropriate since we are beginning our 36th. year at a brand new location and have loads of new talent (and some you have not seen in a long time..). Just as a teaser..we have Jim Teter and his Presidential dummies; Ronn Lucas; Jeff Dunham; Nina Conti: Steve Kissell and many more! If you want to be on our mailing list please send me your USPS regular mailing address (overseas mailing addresses as well!) and I'll add them to the list! Happy New Year to all of you!!

You got Ronn Lucas! Wow! Can't wait. My wife will be amazed at all my vent friends - famous and not so famous.

Ron Lucas is coming! Man, I'm tempted to go again. But that's another daunting 6 hours + 22 hours + 1 hour flight!

Hi gang,

As much as I want to make it this year, I don't think I can afford it.

Let me try again next year!

Y'all have fun...
