Hi I was wondering if any of you have or have built a flea circus and could give me some pointers or tricks I could use to build my own. I want to build one out of a suitcase like one that I've seen but I have some ideas that I don't think I will find unless I build it. Plus I like to build stuff anyway. So if you can help me PM me or post here. Any cool ideas are welcome. Thanks

Greetings MxJoker: You need to E-mail Walt Noon at: walt@noonco.com about his Flea Circus package. You get a video, a CD-with Flea Music, Flea Pictures, and the Text files and manuals, as well as a booklet of details and info. This is a complete package of info and plans to build your own flea circus, and very inexpensive. Walt built the flea circus for Jeff Hobson, and others. Great value for the money and it will save you months of searching and expense.

MxJoker,
Walt has a web site Walt Noon. In it there is a link to a page regarding his flea circus plans. I purchased it several months ago, and while I haven't started yet (still looking for a great suitcase), the plans and resources are first rate. A great buy, and Walt is super to talk to. He's very helpful. Steven

Walt Noon is a great guy. His package is quite comprehensive. Two years ago I built my own circus. It took about 6 months and about $1,000 investment. I ended up coming up with my own mechanics for most of my circus. I've received many repeat bookings due to the circus. I'm now making and selling them. My circuses are 100% push button controlled and the controller is about the size of a TV remote. I also live in Okla. Drop and email or PM to me and I'll discuss it further with you.

I've thought about making up flyers and ads for a "Lice Circus"...and sending 'em to schools to see what response I'd get!!

There was a KILLER flea circus for sale at FISM... you might go on the Genii forum and ask Rickard Kaufman (he bought one) who the maker is... it was made in Germany and was incredible as to build/quality and effects. (It was electronic).

This is absolutely amazing. I had no idea there was even this much interest/performance still going on.
Somebody let me know when you come to Indy to perform--I'll be there with ticket in hand! |

I'm confused. Are there actually fleas in this thing? Or is the whole thing a robotic sham?

The whole thing is an ACT. A very entertaining act. However, robotics do play a part as they do in many effects and stage illusions.
The secret is to "believe in the fleas". Coldthorn |

The flea circus was an item popular during the depression for handy homeless guys who didn't want to sell apples on the street like many others. It can be simply made for around $20 w/a briefcase from the 2nd hand store or cost thousands if you want push button convenience. The Walt Noon info is a great start but is more complicated than necessary. Keep it simple w/mono line, a rubber bulb for the water splash, a fimo/bingo device cannon. If you use a bigger case you destroy the illusion, it must be small to retain the proper scale. It will take you about 10 days to complete. Like ali bongo sed, working w/props you've built is a tremendous reward. Plus, you can repair any probs. These electronic ones will go haywire eventually. Then you're left to find a repair guy. Make your own.
