I do a sponge ball routine with two children. I tell them then to put the "magic beans" into the cone. The cone is already on the tray and locked in place. I put 1 or both of the children between me and the botania with me holding the tray. I pull the cone off and make a kodak moment. Any photo taken has the children, me and the botania in the photo. It is a great way to give a big finish to a sponge ball routine.

I don't have one - but some day I will. I'm waiting for the right time, I don't want to get a cheap one.
Explain to the kids that the single flower will turn into a beautiful bouquet when the right "special person" waters it. After every trick in your show, have one of the kids water the flower. (use a pot with no water, or visibly pour the water into the pot with slush powder already inside). Raise the tube and show the single flower. After your last trick, let the birthday child water the plant. Viola!

I like the sponge ball finish with the photo op moment. However, I'd do it with just a plain flower pot, first used as a single cup and ball routine with the sponge balls, followed by a spongeball to silk transformation, and then do Richard's idea of planting the magic beans in the pot. Instead of covering with a tube, I'd cover the pot with the silk and we would all watch as the flowers visibly "grew" under the silk, pushing it up and out until it is removed to reveal a spring bush covered with realistic spring flowers overflowing from the flowerpot. Botania for those on a budget.

Its a part of my opener. I produce a silk streamer from a dream bag and stuff it into the cone, and then produce the botania.

I use my Abbott's Botaniette regularly as a running gag. 1st time: a big build-up leads to no flowers. 2nd time: 'I know what I did wrong, needs two seeds', leads to no flowers, so I check my gardening book (hotbook). 3rd try: blow-off with the children all shouting the magic word.

I use it as a running gag in all my shows and finally produce the flowers as my finale. It is amazing to me that kids often mention it was their favorite trick. Sometimes adults come and say "that was a great one". I have done it with both cheap Botanias and high quality ones - I would say definitely spend the money and get a high quality one. It makes a big difference!

I just started doing the Botania this year. All the previous years it was not in my mind to pay so much for an one second trick. The real purpose I am buying so many feathers is because I am putting an act together for a magician's contest.

Dynamike did a version of this at our local magic get together - it was awesome seeing all the botanias appear in a crowded restaurant!
I have one botania...and it is an ugly looking botania, but it plays well in the Don Alan Egg Can.
(Ideally, I'd like to find a smaller one)

Andy, are talking about a Botania or a Feather Flower Bouquet?

Hey Dynamike -
I think you brought a bunch of Feather Flower Bouquets at the restaurant...but you also had a smaller botania.
At least that's what I remember...either way it looked good!
