Hi Jean Emmanuel Franzis
Thanks for posting this clip. I love Slydini's coins through table.
I seen clips of Slydini when he was over in the UK but I've never seen this one before.
I have his book 'The Magic of Slydini' and the clip is like having a personal lesson from him.
All the best
Mike

Thanks for posting this! I saw him lecture in the late 70's in Atlanta and this brought back some fond memories.

Does anyone have the Tony Slydini exact apartment address that he had on West 46th street, NY, NY ?
I know it was near Hell's Kitchen and the waterfront.
Somewhere near the Theater district. . . .
But, would like to have the exact street address so I can
"look-a see" on Google Earth and just see. . . .
just visit the neighborhood. . . .on google earth,
and get a feel for the area.
I remember, some of you on this forum, mentioned that you had private lessons. . .
so, maybe we can get the exact address out-a you.
I know, the neighborhhod has changed in 20-30 years and if it was a street level apartment
like Dick Cavett mentions in this blogs . . .
it has probably been turned into a business front, with real estate that valuable,
right at street level.
I watch-a 'ed Slydini live on Dick Cavett when I was a kid and it
REALLY STRUCK ME.
I sort-of remembered what his coin work was like. . .
and now. . . refreshed memory with the several video clips from Cavett online now.

Recently I've watched the video where Slydini is performing in an old french program. Everything is very clever and I really adore the one coin routine. I know how it's done but it still looks magical to me..
After watching Slydini I sometimes perform the (one) coin through table when people ask me to do a quicky and fooled everybody with it (laymen).

He was close to where Frank Garcia lived. I know I have an envelope with his address on it when I bought
a couple of sets of his silks from him. I'll look tomorrow.

In October of 1974, I had my bar mitzvah. My father surprised me by hiring Slydini to perform at my reception. The performance was captured on video tape. It is one of my most prized possessions. He did all of his most famous routines. He's been my magic hero ever since.

Really? Please if you haven't done it already, transfer this to a digital format. There are so few videos of Slydini that this would be a wonderful piece to have available.

Slydini will always be one of my all time favorites. His routines just look so classy. This is a great one from back in the 60's. Especially at 6:25 when he goes into his one coin routine. So charming

Cablerock, you're right. The original video tapes languished in my parent's basement for many years, and there was significant degradation and water damage. A few years ago we found a company able to salvage most of the Slydini footage, so it's now on DVD.
Slydini was truly the master!

I kept the checks that the bank sent me after Tony cashed them in, but the address is not on them and it has been so long... and I've been moving so many times between countries and cities that I cannot remember precisely.
Most probably Tony Clark (amongst others) would remember such physical details: I was too enthralled into Tony Slydini's magic to really memorize the place or notice anything outside the magic itself. Yet I remember that the appartment was dark and not really attractive... and that I ended up hating his da..ed metronome
Magic is not a performing art where people don't know how situations are reached, it's the art of showing parallel dimensions that can't be reached

341 W. 45 St., Suite 111, between 8th and 9th Avenue. The building is still there.
It's funny. I never thought of the apartment as dark or unattractive. I always wanted to have a room just like his studio. It looked something like
an art deco Hollywood movie set, and he had hand crafted so many things in it.
Thanks so much for the incredible French video above. This was shot two or three years before I met him but brings so much back about him at the height
of his prowess. The paper balls into the hat (not a box) was the first thing I learned when I started private lessons after first learning the rope in a small group lesson
in Hartford, CT. Cellini and I travelled together from Hartford to New York for lessons in his incredible studio.
