Fabulous! Many of these photos make me think of what I most remember about these "old-school" dark rides: the (only semi-)dark, the smell of creosote and electric motors, the "thump" of doors as the next car came in or the previous one went out ... great!

Fantastic photos...brings back a lot of memories of summers painting on the boardwalks...I was there ftom 58-73 and painted MANY rides of this type, both the fronts and the inside walls. Quite often on slow days I would be inside working while the ride was operating...and sometimes I just couldn't resist touching someone on the shoulder or head as they rode by....since I was pretty hidden by the darkness, it would SCARE the living hell out of them...just one of the things you do when you're young.
