I've only seen one that I really loved but it's not available for purchase or performance so I don't do it. And I won't mention it.
I have enjoyed numerous moments from different routines that worked their way into my routine, whether it's a display of the bag, the way it's turned inside-out, etc. All things that clearly show an empty bag.

My routine is based largely on the routine by Martin Lewis, although I use a Hobson Egg Bag instead of the Mardo Bag. I use some techniques from the Ken Brooke handling. Take a look at the Charlie Miller routine, too. You should be able to get both the Brooke and Miller manuscripts from Denny and Lee Magic. Jeff Hobson has some great handling tips on his egg bag site. I was sold on the Malini Egg Bag (the Hobson Egg Bag is an updated Malini bag) because I saw Harry Riser perform it. The finale of the spectator holding the bag, while the magician stands a few feet away, and producing the egg from the obviously empty bag is priceless.

Johnnie Thompson (Thomsoni) does a great routine in his lecture.

You can check out the Bob White DVD as well.
His handling will make you believe that there is no way an egg is in the bag.

What kind of Egg Bag do you have? Can you give a web reference to it?

I learned the effect from Johnny Thompson. John is a true master.
That said I love the effort, research and time spent developing the routine that Jeff Hobson has done.
Excellent!

You should check his DVD out.
As well - see the notes above. Good suggestions from very talented and educated folks.
Good luck.

OK, I've asked this before but I don't really remember getting an answer. Please forgive me if this has been answered but;
Hobson
Mardo
Malini
What's the difference between these bags? (I'm assuming one of them is the heavy one most of us use and one is the lightweight one Tarbell suggests a slightly different routine for, but which?)

Being we are not in the secret section of the Café and cannot speak openly, the only thing I can say is the shape and choice of material.
If you want further details please post your request in the banquet area of the Café.

I can tell you the key points of the Hobson Bag.
I consider them "pros", but some will argue them as "cons".
Your call.
Hobson's bag is wider than it is tall.
This is so you can hold it open and the spectator still has room to get their hand in.
It also allows the secret to happen better.
The bag has very rounded corners.
This allows you to turn the bag inside out without having to poke out the corners.
There are two different colors of material inside and outside.
This shows the audience that it is really going inside out.
Some people hate this as it shows the bag is double layered.
My opinion is that if anyone will think that, then not seeing sewed edges when turned inside out will surely do that as well.
Plus, all bags are double layered. If you go buy any type of useful bag, there is the outer material and the inner lining.
People know this.
The last, the outside material is thicker than the inner material.
This helps in certain ways.

Here is some tips many magicians overlook and is very important to the proper working of the Malini and Martin Lewis Egg Bags.
Always store and keep the bag turned inside out. This will help while performing, and give that blousing of the bottom of the bag.
Also it is best to cut a piece of cardboard the exact size and insert it in the bag, when not in use. This will give the bag a pressed look.
I also keep my bags in a plastic bag to keep it clean.

I do a routine where I start by showing it empty using the standard methods, after proving it is empty, I ask the helper to hold out is hands, cupped and I pour out a golf ball, they get to keep it, for my trade shows, I have the golf balls imprinted with the clients logo.

Yes I can, Billy McComb uses his Whiskey Egg Bag, that was the name of it. You knew it all along and did not know it.
Supreme magic made and sold the Whiskey Egg Bag in the late 1960's and 1970's. The company has been out of business (defunct) for years.
His egg bag was fashione along the lines of the U.F. Grant Chicken Egg Bag. Very simple construction method.

I have seen performing Johnny Thompson live
the Malini Eggbag-routine.
In his hands it's a great effect, because he
is great performer.
He uses something extra, so it becomes
also impossible for magicians too.
But I think that's not important for you,
because you will not work for magicians.

I just shove my bag in my case and live with the wrinkles. Maybe the wrinkles help hide the "work" or maybe I'm just the laziest person on this thread. On the other hand, every silk I use is delicately rolled over a tube, each size has it's own tube then a sheath is slid over same and Velcroed shut.
Is Velcroed even a word?

I use the basic Malini/Thompson routine as taught to me by Denny Haney. When on stage, or parlor, I often close with a shot glass production. I use Hobson's bag for all the reasons Randi mentioned. She's entirely right; the reasons some people love it, are the same reasons others hate it. Works good for me and my audiences though.

Denny Haney uses a cardboard insert in his bag. I store mine inside-out, in a file folder. I wedge the folder between props in the prop case. This helps keep my bag wrinkle free. When I setup for a performance, the bag is placed in a cup in my prop case, folded in half.

In my opinion, there is no BEST egg bag routine.....each performer has added their own bits of business to this classic of magic.
Johnny Thompson...a master?....YES...
Jeff Hobson....a master?.....YES...
Martin Lewis....a master?....YES...
But I must say that the SLEEPER egg bag routine I have ever seen.....(and I love Johnny, Jeff's and Martin's bits...i must say).....was by Tom Mullica at the Tom Foolery in Buckhead....hard to describe.....you just had to be there.....
FWIW....Tom's routine was published in Kaufman's book, Showtime at the Tom-Foolery.......and I highly recommend it.

Also, as an afterthought to my post, above, Tom Mullica is just one of the many many phenomenal magicians booked to appear at Abbott's 75th Get-Together in Colon this coming August...if you've never met Tom.....trust me....its worth the trip.

I use a Malini egg bag and I also use the Hobson version - as was mentioned above, the Hobson bag is a revised and/or updated version of the Malini bag and is very effective. I also store mine with a cardboard insert and keep it in a file folder or a plastic bag.
I cannot say as I have a favorite performance or performer of the egg bag because I like all the ones mentioned above and in fact have used all of them (except the Whiskey Egg Bag and the Chicken Egg Bag) over the years. My egg bag performance always changed from show to show, just depending on which one I felt like doing. They are all big hits though.
If any of you have not seen the egg bag performed by Alan Munroe, look for it on YouTube - that was a great ending moment and is the reaction that Alan mentions above. Also, check out the book Eggs, Bags and Gags by Pete Biro - an excellent resource full of funny bits and routines for the egg bag.
To add to what Rainboguy said about the Abbott Get-Together: With or without Tom Mullica (A very talented, funny and favorite performer of mine!), if you have never been to a Get-Together, it is very much worth the drive.
