I ran across this Light/Heavy box by Randi Rain.
I've never seen one of these with Special Fx etc...
I thought it was a pretty novel idea for introducing
small "radioactive" props into your sets as well.
Can anyone come up with other uses for this new
effect other than the light/heavy sequence?

Wow, nice idea. The storyline makes sense. Gives a good reason why you can't lift the box.
Randi is very clever and makes some really nice effects.

I was wondering if anyone has this, or if it has been released yet?

Very cool.
Here is a random idea. Ever cut open a glowstick? That stuff will glow and drip like any viscous liquid.
Incorporate that.
You can't lift the box because... uranium is so heavy?

The first shipment was sent out today, as a matter of fact.
More will go out by the end of the week.
I am working on a demo for it. I'll have some chances this week to video some stuff.

I made a quick video with my nephew.
You can see how well it works, the size, how it looks, etc.
Just something fun.

Thank you very much for the video demonstration Miss Randi.
I enjoyed the cut scenes to the Nuclear Labs....nice touch.
I also wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed your
Marionette film featuring John Merrick, "The Elephant Man" in
Neutral Reality
It is very dark and compelling.

I am sure you have... Since it was invented back in the 1800's by Robert Houdin.
I am sure a lot of people have.

Has anyone gotten theirs? I watched the demo and had some concerns about the strenght of the gimmick.

You could ask me. I'll tell you exactly how and what they are made from.
What part of strength are you worried about?
The box?
Well it's urethane plastic that is 1/4" thick on all six sides.
You could run this thing over with your car and it wouldn't do anything.
You could take a plumbers torch and put fire to it and all it will do is discolor.
The gimmick?
Well.. I don't really have a problem telling you the gimmick, but it is magic and the secret can't be revealed here.
So as far as the gimmick goes, the strength of that is the same as all of them.
The gimmick attached to the box?
Well that is the most critical spot.
The gimmick is bolted to another piece of the plastic which is turn is glued and epoxied inside the box.
The part that is going to fail is the gimmick itself... not any part of the construction.
The plastic, and the fastening of the box, is WAY stronger than the plastic the gimmick is made from.
Not sure what other concerns of strength there can be.
Maybe the hardware?
They're your typical store bought hinges and draw latches.
What else? LEDs?
They are super bright and only use 3 volts.
That is under the maximum voltage that the LEDs can handle so they should last a long time.
Email me... I'll tell you exactly what everything is.
But, people have received them.
But oddly enough, a lot of people who buy my stuff don't come here for one reason or another.
Like being kicked off!

Much appreciated!

I just received mine and this definitely seems like a winner.
I have a couple of Gimpy's Light & Heavy Chests which I love. But I had to give this a try as well because it is small (6-inch square box) and I thought this would fit in well in some upcoming children shows. The "radioactive light is a cool idea that can contribute to different stories.
Keep 'em coming, Randi!

Hey.. Thanks guys.
I really do appreciate the kind words.
I will be at the Abra-Corn-Dabra Convention in May.

You should come. I will be there with a booth and doing live demonstrations of how I make my stuff.
It's going to be fun.
