Hey everyone, I know some of you on here are not a big fan of the new street hypnosis craze and what not, but for those of you who are or who are looking for a great training program there is a new Mind Eraser Training Program Website set up by Joe Brogie that I am currently looking through. So far it is very well done and the instructions are well laid out, I am only on the video course of the original routine itself right now, but there are also other pieces on here that I have not gotten to yet. Please check it out and if you are interest subscribe for a month to check it out and see if you feel it is something you would like, it is only $15 per month and I have a feeling it will evolve rather rapidly over the course of the next few months as I know Joe is a very creative soul in the hypnosis community. Here is the link:

Seems like even the "street hypnosis" fans here have been awfully quiet lately. Following a post on another forum, many are claiming the fad or boom of this type of hypnosis seems to be fading quickly. Lack of activity here and the wave of recent newbies suddenly being quiet makes me wonder if this could be correct?

Could be Mindpro, either way I hope that this course is enjoyed by people like us that genuinely love the artform and want to and/or do make a living off it instead of people looking for parlor tricks. I have no problem with people who really want to learn and apply everything, it is the people that are trying to learn it to make someone quack like a duck or use it irresponcibly that I think should be barred from such knowledge. Anyway...I just got done spending the day looking through everything on the site and it looks very promising, the video work looks great, the explainations are well done and there is even quite a bit of theory thrown in which I really enjoyed. My review as of now is very good and I am looking forward to see what comes next.

I was thinking the same thing, but don't worry. Someone will be along soon to tell us exactly how wrong we are.

I never understood the phenemenon, and in realty it seems much more prevelant across the pond in the UK than in the United States. So I am no judge of if it has run the course or not, but judging from what we see on these froums it does indeed seem so.

I've been out hypnotising (on the street) rather than talking about it. From this side of the pond it seems to still be a big thing. Objective put out a call for magicians and hypnotists recently which I think is the first time they have mentioned hypnosis in a call. Could be wrong but I don't think they are looking for stage hypnosis.
What was the other forum?

I'm still out performing in bars and clubs.
Although I seem to be the only one in my area doing the street hypnosis stuff.

Here's my problem with street hypnosis...
ooooh look, my foot is stuck...
ooh look, my hand is stuck...
oooh look I can't remember my name...
repeat until bored...
won't take long...
where's the hook? where's the artistry? all of it has been done, and done to death (not said in angry way) - lets see creative minds PERFORM something different and unique using hypnosis as the method...please...
I have a kinda old effect, which I can make look like hypnosis, but WITH hypnosis it could play even stronger...and I don't "do" hypnosis...but, I don't see much out there that's interesting... Ant and Kev's AIM sounds fascinating though, and I liked their Vader choke thingie they put out...but overall...meh...

''Blah, blah, blah... I'm an expert in the Café'' ''I know everything there is to know about hypnosis and therefore I am going to put down ANYONE who wants to study hypnosis and endeavours to perform it correctly'' ''I am so far up my own arse, that all I can comprehend is s h I t e''
I for one am fed up with being treated like a c**t. I have experienced this first hand after meeting a 'fellow' mentalist from Bristol. He operates here under the name 'Lost in Thought' and INSTANTLY treated like s**t as soon as he realised I was studying mentalism. There was an air of what the hell do you think you're doing you're not worthy of studying this craft.
This is unheard of in other art forms where the more experienced people embrace the younger people and help to nurture their creativity...
Well guess what, I have studied Mr.Jaquin's work and read many, many other texts on hypnosis.
I cured someone of their needle phobia last weekend and helped someone else get over a SERIOUS limiting belief. So !@#$ YOU.
Those of you who look down on the next generation need to realise that we will be doing this when you are DEAD. So help us continue the tradition properly...or dismiss us as MTV generation without even getting to know us or help us take the art forward.

IAIN, I don't want to get into this with you. Your posts are ALWAYS helpful and respectful. My anger only extends to this place and the attitude of most of the 'professionals' in here.
This has been raised as an issue here before and I guess that nothing has/is going to change. Shame really because there are a lot of creative young minds out there who feel that their opinion is worthless.
Those of us who have 'paid our dues' and studied and have respect for the art get tarred with exactly the same brush as the wannabe 'mindfreaks' and Derren/Blaine copycats.
Like I say, a real shame...

Ah yes... I getcha...
well, the thing is, this place isn't the be all and end all...it is very useful in many ways, and you can certainly use it as a giant library in some ways - just stick to those who you feel help out and share...and most of all, maybe take a little break from the place and just focus on what you want to do... all forums have a knack of drawing you in a little too much at times...habit forming...
maybe just take a little break and just enjoy the place as a library for the time being...
I'll pm you the idea in a sec...see what you can do with it...

Nice one IAIN.
Really didn't want you to think that any of that Bile was spewed at you. It just makes me sad because me and my friend Ross get together and are able to discuss ideas with mutual respect for each other.
Doesn't happen here obviously, except for on very rare occasions.
Thanks for the tip, I think I might impose a Café ban on myself in the new year. I will jus use it as a library as you suggest.
Happy New Year my friend, all the best to you and yours.

How do you know you "cured" someone if it happened just last week? Unfortunately it does happen in many, no most other forms of entertainment. You can help someone get over a limiting belief without anything to do with hypnosis.
Just because you've read Mr Jacquin's work and other books and text on hypnosis, somehow makes you a hypnotist?
Based on even a few of the things you've said, how you said them, and your tone, you seem to obviously show your level of experience. Sorry you feel offended by others who know more or have more experience. This too is a sign of an... oh forget it.
Plus, there are many more serious forums for hypnosis, than here on a magic board.
Not enough said, sorry.

Lots of anger.
Here is the point. If you are of the younger generation and want respect simply keep doing what you are and eventually it will happen. Perhaps learn that respect is something you need to give to get and simply stomping your feet and yelling does not earn respect.
What do you care if some guys on a message board do not particularly care for what it is you do? Why would this matter? Let it go, don't get angry. I don't particularly think that street hypnosis is all that interesting. I think that it is fairly as described by Ian earlier. What does that matter? WHO CARES what I think? It is ONE opinion of billions on the planet. Move along. Others do like what it is.
There are LOTS of people who don't like what I do. No biggie, I don't argue and yell at them and demand respect. I move along. It is what it is. Not everyone will accept what you do as entertaining. Don't let it bother you.
I think the reason I do not "respect" street hypnotists as much as they may like is because they want to demand it and throw it in your face. Let me not like it. Let me have my opinion. Then we can talk about respect. But when I get flown off the handle at simply for not liking or understanding it, then "respect" will certainly not follow. Remember it is a two way street.
Just sayin'.

Be careful if you start lying people down in public. There has been some media regarding this up in Maryland.
Also, liability issues with anything done on the street, especially if you are filming it.
Fads come and go, sooner or later something new will surface and get many on the bandwagon.

Shows how skewed your view of me is. I have never hypnotised anyone 'in the street' for a start. It seems like a bloody ridiculous notion.
I am going to take Iain's advice and use this place as a library rather than get caught up in the politics that go along with this place. I would much rather meet up face to face with people. This ensures that there is eye contact and an actual connection can be made and genuine rapport established.
Thanks for the advice, I certainly will just keep doing what I'm doing and hopefully be able to meet up with others in REAL LIFE where things tend to be a bit more civil.
Good wishes to all of you...
Asher

@mindpro I know because the girl went and got her injection a few days after. I am also well aware that limiting beliefs can be cured sans hypnosis but it certainly makes it easier (a lot easier)
All the best to you all for 2012
Ps although my original post was written under the influence of alcohol, I believe my point about us all being tarred with the same brush still stands.
Sending love to you all...

Well that clears it up.
I made no assumptions except to tell you that respect is earned not demanded. That point is true of all young people whether they be performers or not.
No biggie. I wish you the best, and I hope your passion results in success!

Wow this topic quickly spun out of control...well back on topic So I just trained at the latest HTG training aimed at stage hypnosis training and bussiness, it was great and Joe talked briefly about this program. He has some nice ideas on the way, trust me Joe is not your standard performer, I honestly believe this guy can do nearly anything at this point lol. Hope you all check out his work and had a great New Year!

Agreed. Joe Brogie is a very busy stage hypnotist and has many other talents too. Mind Eraser is an effective impromptu amnesia routine and he has taken it much further since it was released, mixing it up with some strong mentalism entirely suitable for stage.

How origional is this? As it sounds like a trick that many hypnotists have been using for years. I know in the 90's I was taught a very old, non induction method of dealing with people who knew they were incapable of being hypnotised or knew hypnosis was rubbish. This was designed for use in a public enviroment & it involved using thier certainty to show to everyone else how wrong they were. The normal routine involved making them forget get a number, thier name or better still changing one word for another for the the next hour.... Changing the word Yes for Trousers or similar was my favourite.
