The nexus between Houdini and the world of cinema fascinates me. Here's a nice letter I recently uncovered at the Academy Library written by Houdini to mogul Adolph Zukor.

Apparently, Houdini and Zukor played sports together at Morningside Park (near their Harlem homes), and both were involved in a Hungarian Aid charity during WW1. All this is before Houdini's movie career began. B. A. Rolfe, the producer of the Master Mystery was also born in Hungary (like Houdini and Zukor) and at one point managed the career of Jesse Lasky, then billed as the "World's Greatest Cornetist."
Martin Beck was born in Hungary, too, and all these guys were around the same age.

Interesting, Pat. Thanks.
Makes it all the more sad that HH apparently can't even get Zukor on the phone by 1921.
For those who are interested in more Houdini silent movie whatnot, I'm doing a series on my blog about Houdini's leading ladies. Posted the first two this weekend.
