Hi all.
Just wanted to let you folks know that I just received my order for some close-up mats from http://www.pattricksmagic.com and I am a really satisfied customer.
First of all, Patrick is a very nice guy to deal with. We corresponded back and forth a couple of times and he was extremely patient trying to understand my needs.
The mats are top quality. Very nice!!!
And finally the prices are just great. I ordered an 18.5" x 18.5" mat and a couple of smaller ones and the total cost was just $62 including shipping to Malta, Europe. Some other companies/people currently on the magic market (which I won't mention here on a public forum) would easily have charged the same price for just the large mat, their argument being that if you work with magic you should get it's worth bla bla bla.
Patrick's craftsmanship on these mats is top notch and the prices are just great. I highly recommend Patrick for your next Close-up mat. Support his work.
Thanks Patrck!!
PS: he also does printing and embroidery on the mats if you so wish.
Yours,
Ivan

I've seen these mats and I'm shocked that his prices are as low as they are. He could be charging double for his products!

Yes! Patrick's mat is wonderful. I received a burgundy plush mat and it exceeded my expectations. He emailed me when he received the order and it took 2 days to get to my doorstep. Great customer service and I will purchase from Patrick in the future.

I have been using his mat now for about a year and it is fantastic. He is a pleasure to buy from. If you are on the fence you should order a mat. You will quickly realize the value of a great mat.

I agree with all the above comments. Very nice close-up pads/mats and truly excellent personal service! Pattrick is a pleasure to deal with AND he makes high-quality products that are perfectly usable in whatever performing venue you may have.
The Pro Mat 2 in a Plush finish is large mat with a great surface for cards, coins, or cups & balls and it also comes with a nice rolled case with Velcro closures. At a price that is comparable to or better than most commercial mats, Pattrick's mats are truly among the treasured magic purchases that you use and keep coming back for as you need them!
Just to clarify, I am not associated with Pattrick's Mats in any way other than a customer.
Thanks!
Jim

It hardly seems necessary to add to all the compliments for Pattrick's mats, but he deserves them. -)
I recently bought just what Jim describes above: the "Pro Mat 2 in a Plush finish", and it is just great. A wonderful surface to work on, and pretty portable when rolled up (Pattrick does encourage folks not to store them rolled up, I think).
I'm just looking forward to the day when I need a nicely embroidered mat, and ordering it from him (I need some sort of logo first!)

I ordered one a couple of weeks ago, and he shipped right away. Really impressed with the quality, too.
Mine came with the plush surface and it's really great to work with. Thumbs up to Pattrick.

Ben Zottolo and I have been discussing close up pads and I recently built a site focused on close up pads. I also added Ben's Zottolo Close Up Pad to the site so you can see the craftsmanship. Ben's close up pads are wood backed and sit on rubber feet. Each pad is hand crafted and finished with a gold center which adds that touch of class to any magic performance. His large pad contains a few other useful "sneaky" features. The main difference in these premium close up pads are the quality of material, padding and plush velvet.
I'm a fan of them otherwise I wouldn't have built a site around them

I also like Tom Mullica's mat. It's water proff and works well with bartendars.

I received my second mat from Patrick. This time it was the plush fabric. A beautiful burgundy with a rich nap. The reason I chose the plush fabric was because if my fingers or nails have any rough spots the original fabric that are on most pads catch and is very annoying.
This fabric is free from any snagging.
The only thing I wish it didn't have is grain. The nap enables you to slide coins and such across very smoothly one way and not so smoothly the other way. This is particularly noticeable with a shell.
I have found you need a much lighter touch when sliding against the grain.
I am getting so tired of slitting the throats of people who say that I am a violent psychopath.

Is anyone else having problems with ordering? When I try to order it says the cart is empty. I know Pattrick is at FISM now but I thought this only affected the embroidered mats, so I guess that is not the reason for the cart showing empty.

Dean Dill's Production Pad is the very best pad ever! You need nothing more, but for practice or a quick trick in your Magic Den, I have a standard black pad/rubber bottom from MagicWarehouse. But for a formal show, I pull out the Dean. Love that guys products & ideas.
