I'd be interested in using MD in a way to make the subject wonder if they have been hypnotized or through my power of suggestion selected the number or color they selected.

So what I'm thinking of is something that starts out with some kind of pretend ritual where they are shown a series of numbers? symbols? (this is where I need suggestions).

Then they are asked to place the MD object in the box while I would look away. After this, I would might have them pull a card out of an envelope or something that says something like "You have been hypnotized to select the number X", which of course would then be proven right.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to feign the pre-trick hypnosis ritual. Please message me if you think it'd might give away too much info on this public forum.

Another effect wanting to use hypnosis as a theme without actually learning hypnosis. Hypnosis is not "a pretend ritual". If you truly knew how to do hypnosis you wouldn't need MD (lol). Do magicians and mentalist really think audiences buy this premise? Actual hypnosis is hard enough for lay audiences to believe and that is when the see the process and know or have someone they know on stage being hypnotized. I've always had a hard time with this as I think it's only appealing to the performer and actually plays interesting in their mind, rather than with actual audiences.

It seems like nothing more to me that a big convoluted story and misdirection, which is is a discredit to the hypnosis profession.

Also presenting hypnosis as "a pretend ritual" is actually degrading to your audience. Audiences aren't stupid, do not play down to them. If they've ever seen real hypnosis in performance before, they'll be on to you in a heartbeat.

Mndude, I suggest you read Midnight Side of The Mind and other works by Paul Voodini.

Failing that, do exactly what you see hypnotists do, just do it as a pretend ritual with false values attached rather than a pretend ritual with delusions attached.

Sorry, not my intentions to cheapen anything. Just tossing out ideas how to perform the MD trick. I appreciate the suggestion and I'll check it out!

Why not say MultiDimensional instead of MD? I am not into decoding acronyms.

Check out Tony's new thriller The Gilli Gilli Man at Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/Gilli-Tony-Black-Mysteries-ebook/dp/B007GFD0NQ/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1363055541&sr=8-16&keywords=The+Gilli+Gilli+Man

I agree. This isn't the mentalist forum or the basement. Most here would not know what this is.
