The Jack Hughes question reminded me to ask if anyone knows the value of the three volumes of his books Jack Hughes World of Magic? I have them in perfect condition and am curious.

The value depends on the market at the time. Lately, almost everything "collectible" in magic has taken a big hit with the exception of super rare items.
A few years back, you could get about $150 for Volume 1 and about $100 for Volume 2. Volume 3 is still in print or in stock at Viking Magic and is the least rare of all. Sorry to not be of much help. I have been wanting to purchase Vol 2 but just have not got around to it. Do you plan to sell them? Chance

Volume 2 is actually the hardest volume to locate, demanding as much as $300 in the past, just for that volume alone BUT
I would anticipate the resale value of the books to drop dramatically, after this summer. Derek Levler is re-printing the volumes, and all attendees of the FISM will receive a set of the reprinted volumes as part of thier registration, so suddenly the market will be flooded with about 2,000 sets. http://www.fismwcm2012.com/registration.html |

Has anyone seen the reprints from this past summer for sale anywhere yet?

My understanding is that the Derek "Hughes Reprints" (at the FISM Convention) - were actually a "BEST OF" the 3 books...and NOT complete reprints of all of the three volumes of material.
Can someone confirm this? If true, I don't think it will lessen the value of the 3 original Hughes books. |
