If you were going to do a silk to egg routine- which one or whose would you use? Including whose props would you recommend?

Thanks,
RNK

I prefer the Cody Fisher routine. As for props - Do you want white eggs or brown?

And another lengthy discussion on the trick:

I own the Bob Sanders version and it's excellent. I know Bob has devoted a lot of time into this particular effect, and the props he sent were top notch. He has both white and brown eggs available - you won't be disappointed with his. I honestly haven't played around with other versions, but can attest to the quality of what you get from Bob.

Bob Sanders silk to egg is the best I have ever seen and we have both the brown and white version. Bob is a wonderful friend, his pricing is fair and his customer service is superb!

I have a couple sets of Bob's eggs, and last night downloaded Cody Fisher's ebook on this.

Cody did an outstanding job of writing this routine up, and explains in detail what you need to know.

Just wrote Bob for a few more silks.

Highly recommended!

I never liked the Karrell Fox version (from For My Next Trick), which uses nothing but a real egg and a silk, and I felt the same way about Gaetan Bloom's method, which uses the same plus a TT. For the effect to play to a real audience, I think the most important moment is when they see you genuinely pull the silk from a hole in the side of the egg. And I would always want to include the display of pulling the silk half way out then releasing the egg and letting it hang from the silk, so everyone has a really clear image of what's happening. When people see an egg, the default assumption is that it's a real egg, so in order to convince people that it's a hollow egg with a hole in the side, you need to show them really clearly that that's the case.

Both the Fox and Bloom methods eliminate the fake egg, but the price they pay is too high: they have to create the illusion of pulling the silk from a hole in the egg rather than really doing it. The trouble is that, for a faked action to be convincing, the audience have to be familiar with the real action that it's supposed to look like. These versions seem clever to magicians who know the plot very well, and who already expect the silk to be coming from a hole in the side of the egg - but lay people don't have that frame of reference. I don't think it provides enough conviction for audience members who aren't already expecting the silk to be inside the egg and have never seen anyone pull a handkerchief from an egg before.

Bob Sanders eggs are the best! I like to make my own "silk hole" by taking an old silk and cutting it up to resemble a hole with some double stick tape on the back. It looks more like a real silk inside of an egg than a plain paper spot.
Brown or white, you can't go wrong.

Bob Sanders eggs are great, I have the brown & white sets. Also the quality of the silks are superb.
I'm just curious has anyone ever tried Tenyo's silk to egg? A friend recently showed me one, and it's the most realistic plastic egg I've ever seen. It's a bit small, but I don't have big hands, so it works perfectly for me.

I think the Viking silk to egg comes with that type of hole

Funny story. Bob Sanders' eggs are so realistic that I was going a show once and was interrupted when I was loading my pockets before the show and got the eggs mixed up and put a fake in my pocket instead of a real egg. I was going to peel the sticker off the real egg and break it into a glass at the end. Well, instead of a real egg, the sticker was on the fake egg. I pulled the sticker off, was trying to break that egg into a glass 3 or 4 times before I realized what I had done. Shocked, the only thing I could do was say, hhmmm....this one must be hard-boiled, and tossed it to a spectator.

Bob's eggs ARE great! Highly recommended!

Yes, Tom Stone routine is great !

Actually it's the same routine as Cody Fisher (Steve Dacri concept with spectator breaking his own egg), but with a different technique.
