After learning from a video of Patrick Page and his book, reading the comments on The Magic Café, other feather flower books, I thought I knew it all when it came to feather flowers. Richard Hughes DVD on feather flowers mentions a lot more too. If you want to work feather flowers in your show, his book is worth purchasing. It does not matter if your supply with feather flowers are big or small.

What are you talking about in the above post? Sorry, it is not clear to me.

D0n't be sorry. A lot of members are unclear at times. I was probably unclear because I was so excited after watching Richard's feather flower lecture DVD. His DVD is great to have because it covers everything dealing with feather flowers. Before I watched it I thought I knew everything already about feather flowers. From what Richard instructs on the DVD proved me wrong. I advise you to purchase the DVD because it is well worth it.

I have always advised magicians to really listen and pay attention to other magicians' "Gems of Wisdom", like Richard Hughes, who literally has A LIFETIME invested in the art of Magic, and in Richard's particular case, the Design and Manufacture of Professional-Quality Magic Props, specifically Feather Flower effects.

wmhegbli:

Not to "interpret" or speak for Dynamike here, but it looks to me that he had an "AHA" moment when he realized that "Wow....this Richard Hughes guy REALLY knows what he's talking about when it comes to Feather Flowers....and I have so much yet to learn".....

One of the joys of my life as a magician has been to meet and to get to know many great magicians over the years and become their friends. To be honest, once I get to know them, I like to "totally absorb" their perspective on performing magic, so-to-speak.

Richard is one of those guys: A genuinely nice guy who's been around and knows what he's talking about.

And there are MANY "Richards" out there.....by that I mean, magicians with a huge knowledge base...........it's great to hear what they have to say about the art of performing magic. If you don't listen, you don't learn.

And I also think that all serious students of magic are always learning......

I know it sounds corny and stupid, but I must say that over 30-years of making a joyful annual pilgrimage to the Annual Abbott Get-Together in Colon, Michigan, "The Magic Capitol of The World" has ABSOLUTELY built my knowledge base....no question about it.

So on a "somewhat-related" Topic...."Magic Gems of Wisdom".............. and Now to do my part by "passing on" a Magical Gem of Wisdom I learned in 1983 at 3 O'Clock in the Morning in St. Joseph, Missouri during the Faucett Ross Magic Fest from the One and Only Professor: Dai Vernon.

Dai told me: "Once you vanish something, NEVER bring it back. Just don't make it re-appear. It drives 'em crazy."

Dynamike:

We met there briefly a couple of years ago but didn't really get a chance to spend time together. Yes, Michael, we did get a chance to meet last year and get to know each other both at the Hotel and also at Fab.

Jeff Hobson and I were booked to perform on the same show last Labor Day weekend for the Houdini Club of Wisconsin and he was discussing Abbott's upcoming 75th Get-Together with me then......I think it's really going to be a memorable one this year!

Wouldnt it be great if Lance just...."Showed Up?"

There is no place in the World like Colon, Michigan during Abbott's Get-Together.......it's truly unique in the World of Magic.....

And as a plus, you can always talk to nice folks like Dynamike, Micahel Baker and Richard Hughes.........and a thousand or so more from around the World.....

Gentlemen, thank you. I am humbled.

BTW, Hobson will not be at Abbott's this year. Conflict.
