I am thinking about adding a tea pot routine to my kids show. Any out there for sale that are collecting dust at your house?
Thanks

You might find a good one for low price at a pawn shop or trade store.

Are you talking about the one which pours different colored liquids and uses silks in the routine?

Try posting in the For Sale or Trade column as: LTB, or looking to buy. I'll bet you'll get results.

If you have a friend (of a friend of a friend) who can weld, a simple DIY version can be made from a metal teapot. A clay/ceramic version could also be made by a person with adequate skill.

I made my own Magic Teapot from a real teapot. I would have rather bought one, but I needed mine to be a certain size, so I had to make one. I had to search for a long time before I found a suitable one.

There were a couple of interesting versions of this, one was spun aluminum from Ickle Pickle. Very attractive with more of an upright profile/design (compared to the short, squat kind) and there was another that appeared to be clay pottery material, but in truth, was rubber and could be handled like a vanishing bottle.

You may want to look at the other Teapot thread in here which speaks to the pros and cons of the effect before you get one.

I made my own Magic Teapot from a real teapot and hot glueing a butter tub with a lid to keep the silks dry.

I have an old UF Grant teapot that's copperplated and looks like gold. So I use a rainbow story line and instead of finding a pot of gold at the end of the raiinbow, I found this golden pot....then play it out with a long banner of silks in the production.

Jim Steinmeyer has a great Teakettle in his book, a self contained and simplified version of "Any Drink Called For" it does not however have the silk production finish. It’s in his “Conjuring Anthology. You can make it for almost the cost of a pot.

Steve, that is interesting. I never knew Ickle Pickle made a Magic Teapot. If it is taller than the other one it would not have worked for me anyway, but I would like to see one.
I actually jave the little, latex one, and I use it in the same routine with the large one I made. Does anyone know who the manufacturer of the Vanishing Teapot was?

The Ickle Pickle teapot looked more like a shorter pitcher, but was very nice to look at and operate. I remember the little rubber pot came in a plain, small cardboard box with a little sticker on the front, much as most of the stuff from India does these days. Maybe they were from Sam Dalal?...just guessing.

Oh, I misunderstood. I needed a shorter teapot, so maybe it would have worked for me. Oh well, I never knew, and although it took some time and effort, I am very happy with the one I made. I still hope I can see an Ickle Pickle Magic Teapot someday. You have aroused my curiosity!

Great info! Thanks!! I'd like one that is made like a tall thermos. Silks and liquid out of it. I saw one but the dealer is out.
