Hello,
I'm planning to visit Avignon Festival this July and I wanna see some magic there.
Are there magic shows in the festival??
Are there magic buskers ?
If I wanna perform on the street, should I register ?
Thank you very much.

The festival itself it highly organized. It's a fringe festival. This means several stages and theaters around town are booked by the visiting acts, and then they make their money back by selling tickets. So 100% of the Avignon festival takes place indoors, or in venues where tickets control entry. Check the official show roster to see if there are any magic acts this year.
But it does bring in a lot of tourists, which brings in some street acts to play for the crowds. Technically, you must have a busking permit from City Hall, and they only give them to French citizens. But in all my visits to Avignon, I have only seen the police use this provision maybe twice, against unprofessional buskers that were causing more harm than good. If you go, you will see professional buskers from several countries who will be happy to include you in the program.
