Hi everyone,
I am only posting this as many have contacted me over the last 6 months asking if I was going to be coming back to the FCM convention any time soon.
Good news. I will be presenting 2 new lectures and part of one of the evening shows.
I am so looking forward to seeing all of you again and having a great time of magic, fun, and fellowship.
I am so thankful that the Lord worked it out that I could fit it into my schedule.
see you there!!
magically yours

Well I will see you there Sam.

The magic is not in our sleights and illusions, but instead in our ability to bring love and joy.

Not sure, but Sam also going to Abbott's in Colon on the Saturday of the FCM convention (August 4)? I know that a bunch of FCMers including Prez. Del Wilson are planning to drive north to catch the last day of Abbott's -one day passes are available from Greg Bordner at www.abbottmagic.com or www.magicgettogether.com Hoo-Rah- the first week of August is going to be terrific this year!

I'd call Greg Bordner at Abbott's- he'd probably give you a deal. Dr. Jerry Burgess, former FCM President, usually sits front row center at Abbott's every year (along with "Norma" and Gay Blackstone)- the three of them get picked without fail by various performers to jump onstage to be volunteers from the audience for whatever effect. It is always neat to see the reaction of the magician when he asks what the name of the volunteer is and the reply is "Gay Blackstone." Priceless.

I wish I could be there. Last time you blew the other acts out of the water. Including the big headliner!! I'm sure you'll do the same this time!

FYI: Please all come to the FCM convention! In the latest issue of Genii, the Editor makes the sad point that several large magic conventions have folded while others are experiencing declining attendance. Many reasons are given for this: the web being used to discuss and purchase magic, the increasing costs of going to a convention in a declining economy, and the most sad: younger folks are not as interested in magic anymore- magic as a "hobby" is being equated to playing the harmonica. Yikes.
I personally think magic is more like baseball- it comes and goes with each generation as evidenced still by all the full time magicians performing in Vegas. Magicians and magic themed shows (like "The Mentalist") are still seen regularly on national tv. That being said- come out and support the FCM convention- and bring along with you as many interested future performers as you can. The FCM convention is kid friendly and very inexpensive to attend. In retrospect too, I can tell you the FCM convention in 2012 is ENORMOUS compared to the first FCM national convention in 1971 that I first attended- the whole FCM bunch was able to assemble in a large banquet room.
Fired up and see you there in Marion! Bring your close-up magic to share in the Caféteria and your stage stuff to share in the Late Shows! Psalm 67! The FCM convention still has (by far) more lectures than any other magic convention worldwide- not even close- the daily selection of choices available of stuff to do in Marion is still amazing.

Roger (MagicBus) I am glad you brought this up. This is something that should not be overlooked.
With the economy the way it is and the daily increase of gas prices - I can see where the desposable "fun" money has dried up affecting everything (even magic gatherings and get togethers)
The important thing is that everyone uses common sense and be a good steward by not putting the real priorties in life (like family, church etc.)in jepordy just to play with magic toys.
Like everything else - there are cycles. What isn't anymore leaves room for something else in the future. Professional gatherings (even magic ones) won't totally go the way of the white buffalo. They very well just maybe different in the future, that's all.
Also, we cannot forget that we are Christians. We will always gather in His name for fellowship, encouragement, worship and to better understand how to put our talents to work to advance His kingdom. After all He is our God and we should want to grow in our faith and understanding. And we should hold each other up in prayer (able to attend or not) during these difficult times.

Signor Blitz- sorry I did not check in here for a bit.
I will be closing the show on Tuesday night. I will be presenting several grand illusions as well as several of my signature routines both manipulation and comedy bits. it should be a fun night and I am looking forward to seeing every one there.
please do come out and have some great fun and fellowship at this convention.

It will be a great convention this year! The partial lecture schedule is up on the website. It will be a great convention just like it is each and every year! Hopefully coming up on the podcast we will give a run down of some of the events and lectures this year.
Hope to see everyone in Marion!
