In the past month I sent an email to the national office and the IBM representative here at the Café asking about membership. I did not hear from either. Is membership closed?
I am a former member of both IBM and SAM, circa 1960. Guess I'll try the SAM guys...

No my guess is they did not get it. You can try again, although with the SAM is you still have your membership number from the 60s they can keep it for you.

If you're anywhere near wherever in TX that Tom (Tom Terrific) Smith is, I know HE can hook you up with the right people for membership.

Spartacus - I have tried to PM you but am not sure it went through as I haven't gotten any response. Please sent me your contact information and I will ensure that you get a response. Our Executive Secretary is usually very quick to response and does a great job - I feel certain your request did somehow not get to the HQ. Please PM me the information and I will follow up on it for you.

That was a long time ago back in March. I re-emailed the national office a week ago and got a response from Sindie who went thru the trouble of looking up my old number from 1960. As soon as I can save some money out of my SS I'll rejoin. Too bad they don't have reduced rates for old people. No Rings around here, except bullrings, nearest one is in Sante Fe or Dallas, a good 600 miles away.

I can definitely relate to you Spartacus. I am living in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada - population approx. 75,000. No Rings here either. They still think IBM stands for International Business Machines.

That's rather amazing that you can get your old number from 1960! Sounds like the organization keeps very good records on the membership. And Spartacus, you're only as old as you feel. Magic keeps you young, you know.

Tyler has a good club, too! We'd welcome you! Once you're re-instated, you are aware that you can maintain your annual dues for a bit of a lower cost if you DON'T get the Linking Ring sent to you......?

Spartacus,
There is an IBM Ring there in El Paso, Tx. that I chartered as president in 2003, why not try to reactivate it Brother?

Well, I had a long talk with Father Photius and he said it would probably be useless. I was even thinking of a EP - Las Cruces ring but a member from Las Cruces here at the MC said the same. Not much interest.

Hey! Ray Bertrand! Some magicians even call it the "I Bother Magicians" club!
SPARTACUS>>>Did you get back "in"? I do not hold any "office" in the IBM, but I have been around for awhile. (62 years--since 1950)
I agree. "They" should have a "dues-deal" for us old geezers!--of course, my opinion is somewhat biased! I've mainly kept up membership so that I get the FINAL CURTAIN column. --and, since Bev Bergeron is a dear old pal, I read his column first. Sammy Smith is doing a good job as editor. He has instituted some new fresh ideas.
See you on the next lot!!!
