Don Wayne's Floating Ball. Brand new in box. Bought it 20 years ago because I thought it was really cool and I hoped to one day perform it. Even though I've never used it, I'm glad I own it.

Dick Oslund:

When I met J.B. Bobo in St. Louis it was several weeks after spending some time with Michael Ammar and going through "bits and pieces" with the Slydini Coin Clip.

So, I vanished 4 half dollars using the clip and J.B. said..."Just a sec....don't go away...I will be right back".....he went over to get Lillian, and told her "you have to see this"...and asked me to do it again, so I did...

J.B. said that whatever I did completely fooled him, and he wrote a nice note and autographed my hardbound version of Modern Coin Magic.

He was a very nice man and I enjoyed his stories!

Speaking of stories...if any of you have never read Marshall Brodien's book...you should! Marshall has GREAT stories about his life in Magic, and they are true!

Mr. Oslund has a lot of stories worthy of the title, "What is your most prized magic possession?"

Since I became more interested (make that obsessed?) in magic later in my already dated life and while I have numerous artifacts and collectibles, none of them can compare to those y'all have listed. So MY favorite possession is the memory of Doug Henning's The Magic Show performance at the Cort Theater on Broadway in 1975.

What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?

My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums.

Bob, I had the pleasure of seeing that show either late December 1974 or early January 1975. At the time, I was 18 and had not heard of Doug Henning. I was visiting my aunt and uncle in Scarsdale and when asked if I'd seen him, I replied, "What is Dove Fanning?" I learned a lot that week.

My copies of Best of Friends 1 and 2 that were part of Doug Henning's personal library, signed to him by Harry Lorayne are my favorite. I'm just a beginning collector though. I found out I don't even belong with experienced guys like you all when I tried my hand at the Cardini auction today. My visit with Ken Klosterman a few years back should have told me that. His overflow collection alone would take me a lifetime to acquire (as well as put me in poverty).

I consider myself a young(ish) guy (in my late 30's) who should probably like the latest DVDs or books of tricks, but I find myself drawn toward books on magic history much more than on books with nothing but tricks in them. One day I will probably thin out my library of books filled with tricks to make room for books on magic history or biographies. I especially like John Booth's books. I find the format interesting. Imagine my delight when, on a whim, I purchased a copy of "A Magician's Tour Revisited" from a seller here, only to find it was part of John Booth's library as it has his bookplate in it.

The sad fact is, we are all going to die, myself at 75 sooner than others. Our collections will either end up on the bookshelves at Goodwill, or if willed or donated, to another magician. I collect catalogs and more than one was in the library of the magic dealer, Jack Chanin. All were bought from different sources, yet somehow made it to my shelves, where they will sit until I die. I have catalogs from other famous magic personalities.

If you are interested in magic history, there is no better source than a magic catalog from a name synonymous with magic history. You will not find my name therein. I do not mark my books with bookplates or write my name in them. If they end up on your shelf, know that they came from a nobody.

Mine would have to be my book on pickpocketing by Mark Raffles. One of a limited run of only 500 and signed by him. I bought it at Blackpool over 25 tears ago and it is still the best.
