I was in Staple's Office Supply yesterday, browsing and seeing what magic might be hiding there when I came across the paper clip aisle. I was surprised at the variety and got to thinking about what I might be able to do with them. There are various colors and materials; some of the clips are identical except for being in a wide range of sizes. I did a search on the Café and came up with a couple things...
Jumping Paper Clips
Jumping Paper Clips with Rubber Band by Mark Wilson
PK Ring effects
'Clicking' link trick (Bill Severn, I think)
Clipping to a selected card
Applying some basic principles...
- Color Change
- Penetrations
- Appear
- Disappear
- Linking
- Grow
- Shrink
I am going to try to build a short close-up routine mostly focusing on ungaffed paper clips, although if the gaff is simple enough it might be worth doing anyway. The clips I bought are 'Jumbo' size, uncoated metal in about five different colors, so they really stand out. Anyone have additional ideas? Has anyone ever put out a DVD or book like "Encyclopedia of Paper Clip Magic" as has been done for Sponge Balls or Rubber Bands?

There are many card effects that use paper clips.
I know Sanky has one, but I don't recall where I saw it.

Paper clip would be good for the Three-Card Monte trick.

Thanks for all the suggestions. It will be interesting to see what this looks like once it is all put together. It might be worth putting together a bibliography or reference to various paper clip-based effects.
Happy Easter, one and all!
