I had a fight break out in my audience tonight. How have you folks dealt with it in the past?
I will lay it all out (no pun intended), after I get some sleep, I just walked in my door.

Tell them to "go play hockey somewhere else".
In all serious, from my experience, you're probably going to lose the show. Humour and charming diplomacy might work initially but once the fists start flying....
And yes, I have used that line

Ouch! Rough night.
Haven't had to deal with this one, but I would likely let the bouncers/security take care of it and then "on with the show"!
If while busking... grab my tip bucket and most fragile props and get the heck out of the way as rapidly as I could.
Hope you're alright and didn't catch any stray flying blows. Let us know what happened.

End the show, if you can anticapate a fight before hand end the show.
Your number one concern in this situation should be your audeiance safty.
Fights breaking out is real bad news and should not be happening.
If it does finishing your show should be the last thing on your mind.
Last thing you want is locals or authorietes linking your show and busking to fight break outs!
Glad to hear you made home safe!

Men, thanks so much for the thoughts and opinions.
@Street Performer, yes there is that initial moment when I want to continue until that moment of diminishing returns
as to the safety of my groups and the sheer drama of it all. In fact perhaps I should insert a fighting sequence into my bits. It was really something interesting to watch, until objects started flying.
@Chris,
Money was never a concern and was the very least of my worries, in this particular episode.
@Mario,
Yes I totally agree that I would never want to attract that kind of attention to my work on the streets
and would do my very best to place some distance between my work and the extra-curricular activities of
the drunken masses that walk by my pitch. I don't have very many children in my groups(perhaps less than ten on average). I perform at night, right smack dab in the middle of all the nightclubs and tattoo joints, just before my gig starts indoors.
This fight sequence was inside the club venue. It spilled outdoors and a brand new Mercedes was damaged.
I was never in any danger, but yes folks in the audience were in the way of the flying debris.
It was a fight over a woman's attention. It was also Friday the 13th, yikes!
I'm putting in for hazardous duty pay!

We hosted our first Cabaret show on Friday 13th, great night and we Sold Out!
What do you don in your indoor gig sounds interesting?
Do you use your street show to get them in?

Scary. Did the venue have a reputation of being a rough place?
(I know there are a lot of places here to steer clear of, even when on the street.)
