Andrew Mayne, Bro Gilbert and IMX are the next 3 events on our schedule. Due to entertainers' changing schedules we don't want to schedule anyone too far in advance.

I agree with APC.

So far I have only purchased:

Oz Pearlman, which was great.
David Regal
Richard Osterlind
Shawn Farquhar.

ON all the lectures I have gotten at least 1 good thing to use, and solid advice.

So yes, I feel these are worth the $20 price tag.

Thanks Shawn for a great lecture, very inspiring, the deck switch was really cool, something to work on.

Yes, Penguin Magic should be praised for bringing lectures onto the Internet as it is often time cheaper for the participants, but also has a much wider (and thereby profitable) audience for the magicians and the company. Sorry if that came off as sarcastic, I did not mean it to be. I really appreciate what Penguin is doing.

Mahucharn,

What you're saying is true, but even though we've come a long way, these lectures are far from break-even. We *hope* to make live online magic a regular thing, but there's still a long road ahead. This is why your support means so much.

Thank you everyone for the positive feedback, and for helping us bring live magic online.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the kind words, review, etc. I had a blast last night doing the live lecture online. I can understand movemonkey's comment, regardless of the tone, as it is hard to know what I would teach without some sort of content listing. Now that it's over I suppose someone could take a few minutes to write out a list of tricks. techniques and ideas that were discussed and taught.

It was not all "already released" items however as I have never released NetTricks, or the variation of Bicycle Built for Five, I also demonstrated my new wallet soon to be released and in fact I taught an effect I have NEVER shared with anyone before and feel it was worth way more than the $20 entrance fee. If you bought the ReSealed Verified Pack (RSVP) in a DVD as a single effect it would sell for that much alone. I went into a full explanation of the preparation of the box, gimmick, and presentation which is something I have never exposed before. I think if you ask those that watched the lecture they might agree it's a strong routine worth learning. But hey, that's just my opinion...

Cheers,

Wait a sec... Is RSVP the card to sealed deck effect everyone has been clamoring for? The one he did on Fool Us?

Velcrowe, and everyone elsed that asked.

Yes and no.

it is not the entire routine he did on fool us, that will come out at a much later date, when Shawn is ready to release it, since his products are perfect when they are released, so he tends to work on them very carefully.

so basically it is a variation on what he did on fool us.....not the same exact trick though.

But similar.

Shawn said that Penn and Teller caught him during the deck switch, since Penn is 6 foot giant, but they don't know how he got the card inside the case, at the position..............Shawn teaches just Part 1 of the effect which is the deck switch.

Everything put together will be released later.

But I can tell you that RSVP is worth it, and your head will be spinning with ideas on what to use.

Thanks

Alex

I love Shawn Farquhar! He is seriously one of my favorite magicians. I would actually be just as happy to chat with him in a coffee shop and not even talk about magic. He's so enthusiastic and passionate about life. Awesome guy!

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have purchased probably 380+ magic DVD's and are in in my library ... this is the most significant video/lecture I have seen in 10+ years. After seeing this tonight it is NO wonder Shawn has won so many awards.

Thank you for Penguin for bringing such wonderful virtual lectures to my bigscreen!
I have seen many of them and they are great .. this particular one is a SIGNIFICANT jewel.
Thank you Shawn .. hope to meet up with you someday.

I downloaded this last night and have only watched about 20 minutes so far and scanned a head just to see what else is coming up. While I have Shawn's Bread and Butter notes as well as a couple of his other products, I'm thoroughly enjoying this lecture and believe I'm going to have to check out some others.

Just confirming that the method to get the card in a sealed deck is not explained but only the deck switch? i.e. the same method as explained in Shawn's invisible deck routine?

I am very confused?

Hi baobow,

I'll try to clear this up so everyone will understand better.

I did NOT teach the effect I did on Ellen and Penn and Teller. I did go into great details regarding the technique I created to deck switch and gave a number of variations for its use. I concluded by presenting and explaining RSVP which was an effect similar in nature and but not method to the signed card in sealed deck.

The premise of RSVP is that when you buy a deck of cards they are in new deck order but that is not how they leave the factory. I explain that cards are just thrown into a box and sort themselves out while in transit to the store. I open a new deck, remove jokers and premium cards and shuffle the remaining cards. Using just six cards (three red and three black) I demonstrate how they won't remain mixed (oil/water) routine. I then go further saying they can be face up and down too and demonstrate a triumph routine. Finally I have the spectator shuffle the cards, face up into face down multiple times and have one card removed and set aside without anyone viewing the suit or value. This shuffled deck is place into the case and the case is signed by the spectator and held in their hands. When they open their hands the pack is found to have ReSealed itself. The outside of the Pack is Verified to to be Sealed. (ReSealed Verified Pack = RSVP). The spectator breaks the seal, opens the deck and confirms the deck is in new deck order without the jokers or premium cards and of course the one previously removed card is absent too...

It's a powerful effect with many phases and lots of moments of strong magic. It is within the technical reach of almost anyone who can handle and shuffle a deck of cards. It can be done standing without tables and will play well for a single person or a huge crowd.

Once again, thanks to everyone who watched the lecture online. It was a very new experience for me and the deluge of emails of thanks and praise has been overwhelming. I never imaged I would be seen in Australia, US, Asia and Europe all at one time! This internet "fad" may actually catch on... ;-)

Cheers,

I too have seen his lecture before and enjoyed it the second time just as much. Its great to see the evolution of some of the routines, little tips and nuances are the real gems here. Shawn is so charming and genuine its hard not to love him a little.

Hi Shawn,
I did not mean to be rude... was just texting here with my phone.
I bought every effect you put on the market in the past, I really love your work and Im doing (like many fellows) a "basic" sealed deck routine based on what we have now on the market and irresistibly based on what we see you do for years... Its a fact its our nature to copy what we think is best...
I really expect you can put the details and subtleties of your handling/sealing method out, even in a limited edition or something... just so I can be sure Im doing YOUR routine, crediting YOU when performs to younger magicians I may meet (Im already crediting you when I show this to someone)...
and not only the sealed deck, Im a fan of every routine you do, the thread of life, your thinking about presentation... Im just hoping guys like me can still buy that lecture and find something new...
Sorry if I offensed you
love

Hey Movemonkey,

I too am sorry if I came off as offended or upset. It wasn't my intention. I was just say'n that the tone felt harsh, which in retrospect is odd, seeing how you really can't have "tone" in a posting. I never even imagined it was a fast text on a phone. I understand everyones frustration with the length of time it has taken me to release my effect and I guess when I read comments I sometime read into them more than one should. Thank you for supporting and presenting my magic. It really means the world to me to know that others in my craft like my work, ideas and maybe even me. As always, I am always learning and apologize if you were hurt by my comment. Your comment actually has helped as it made me sit down and write out the "set list" I presented for the lecture. Maybe other artist will learn from this and in the future an index of the material will be listed prior to the lecture to make it easier to make a purchasing decision.

To everyone who has bought the lecture, thanks for your support too and I hope I have helped in someway to improve your magic. I'm at the 4F convention at the moment and it's like going back to school... so wickedly cool.

I saw a lot of young magicians doing your Sealed deck method (sometimes poorly) since it has shown on youtube...
What I think really sad is the fact many people are not aware you are the creator of this version... So many people states its Cyril's version...

I think Shawn you should really consider putting it out someday, a high price tag would be appropriate

1-for the people who does it, make them do it properly (poor performance of it = exposure)
2-make the young generation know it's your version, not created by someone else

Just my 2 cents,

- Y

I've already seen Shawn's bread and butter lecture live in Miami but this still would've been worth well more than the $20 I would've paid in a heartbeat if I wasn't already a member of penguinlive. I love RSVP, although I don't think I will end with it in a sealed pack unless I'm doing a show. Otherwise, just going back into new deck order is strong enough. And even if I'm working impromptu, ending with it seperated into suits is amazing. Have you ever seen a triumph with a borrowed deck that ends with the cards seperated into suits? Super cool!
And Shawn gave away a jacketless deck switch too, besides for his regular one in answer to my question. Also wonderful.
By the way if anyone was able to find the secret blog, please pm me. I looked, but I didn't see it where he said.

Hey Fireisyummy,

The link to the "secret blog" is on this page of my website: http://magichampion.com/?page_id=14
Just use the password I mention in the online lecture to gain access.
The latest video tip I give on the site is my handling of Pavel's walking knot routine.
I'll be posting more stuff soon, but have so many projects on the go and I am so far behind I can see my own behind!

Cheers,

I can agree with fireisyummy.

I have seen the bread and butter lecture before, but I still got a lot out of the Penguin lecture and was so glad that I got to see it. Sometimes the best part is watching the creator of an effect explain the thought and history that went into an effect's creation, and I think Shawn is a great example of doing this. It inspires me to learn and create as well!
