I've developed this routine for meetings with clients and wanted to share it with you after getting so much from the Café. It's not for your "every day between tables" kind of thing, but more of a "sit down around a quiet table" kind of effect which takes a few minutes.

I explain that I'm about to perform the same effect twice for two different people, at the same time, with 2 decks of cards, but since I'm only one person the 1st person would do everything visibly and the second would just imagine me doing it for him as well. I explain to him that he needs to do the exact same thing as the other spectator: "If he takes a card from the deck, you pretend to take a card from the deck, if he shuffles the cards, you pretend to shuffle a deck of cards, if he says something... you say the same thing".
Now I just do the basic Biddle Trick to the 1st spectator - he shuffles the deck, takes a card, puts it back, I lose it in the deck... etc.
Eventually, he's left with the deck in his right hand and the 4 cards (which he thinks are 5) in his left hand. The 2nd spectator just has both hands palm up imagining everything. Now I say: "now you both imagine taking the 1 card you chose from those 5 cards... turning it upside down and placing it in the middle of the deck..." They do so. I then finish the Biddle Trick - showing there are only 4 cards, the 1st spectator card has vanished and is now the only face down card from the face up deck. (1st effect)
I tell the 2nd spectator that he just imagined everything, I say: "for the 1st time, tell everyone what card you're thinking of". I open the card case, remove the cards, there is 1 card face down and it's his thought of card.

A few points:
# When presenting the decks (1 regular, 1 Invisible decks) I give the 1st spectator a free choice of either decks, whichever spectator that ends up with the regular deck I perform the biddle trick for him and the Invisible Deck for the other.
# This effect really takes the heat of wanting to examine the Invisible Deck at the end (if you've had any trouble or fear there) because the spectators really feel they could of picked any deck and both are regular.
# Spreading the deck face up at the end of the Biddle Trick is important, so you would have the same image with the invisible deck.
# I've tried doing the same routine with other effects such as Triumphant, but didn't find them as strong as the Biddle Trick, at least not for me.
# This routine has a lot of room for humor. When the spectator shuffles and the other one pretends to, when he picks a card and you tell both to remember... I always saw those parts in the Biddle Trick kind of dead and this routine really helps that.
# The fun about Biddle Trick is that the trick is done before it started, this really leaves a lot of room for presentation. I present it in kind of a humorous way at first, and when the effect begins... there are no more silly gags or anything, just pure magic.

At meetings with clients, this is often the routine I perform, it kills.
Try it out, I'm having a blast with this routine and thought maybe someone else would too.

I think you should keep this one to yourself. Wonderful presentational hook!

Excellent idea. Exactly how do you present the bidde trick. Do you hand the deck and the face up packet to the spectator at the end or ? Maybe I'm missing something from your explanation.

What's the point? where's the hook for the spectator? The connection? what does this effect tell you about the performer?

MagicofDesperado,

I thought that was self explanatory, I'll explain:
In the Biddle Trick itself, the card ends up in the face down deck held by the spectator, I just turn it face up while placing it in his hand.
Next, I'm counting the 4 cards in my hand as 5 and placing them face up in his other hand. I then tell him to imagine taking his card out, turning it face down and placing it in the face up deck. Again, the reason I do everything face up instead of face down is because I want it to look the same when showing the Invisible Deck.
If you have any further questions you're welcome to PM me.

Cirrus,

everything I've mentioned is just the technical part of combining the two, you can put in any presentational that hook you wish, here are a few examples:
# It can be about imagination and reality
# You're just too lazy to perform the same trick twice
# Explain that whenever you perform this effect you're always get asked to do it again, that's why you're doing it twice.
Another note, most performances I saw of the Biddle Trick have no "presentational hook", spectator just picks a card and the magician finds it in a magical way. Invisible deck was presented in many different ways, but many times also with no "presentational hook".

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I hope they never implement it on the magic café. I hate facebook things popping up everywhere. I don't have a facebook account anymore. I just love my privacy.

I'm not going to discuss this to deeply but everytime you like something on facebook, it shows up on your profile, that way advertisers know exactly what kind of products you like and what products are more likely to be liked then others.

Every site you watch and logon with your facebook account is monitored and saved. I know this is also true by normal surfing, but by normal surfing they don't know my full name, date of birth and who knows me in real life.

Very interesting idea, but you don't think that the Invisible Deck effect takes all the focus away from the biddle effect, because it's a stronger effect?

Ben Train,

glad to hear you like the idea, I'm a fan.

Magic-Daniel,

I think it's like any other routine that builds itself. Whenever you do a classic Ambitious Card routine, they will only remember the big climaxes. They'll remember the card in the mouth and the bent card jumping to the top at the end. Same goes for a full stage act, the audience will remember the big parts.
The Invisible Deck does take the focus off the Biddle Trick, but I honestly believe it's a routine that builds itself. Both tricks individually are very strong, but since their so strong I always found them as a "do it again!" kind of effects... which is why this routine works very well for me. Again, it's not something I perform while doing table hopping, but it is something when I really want to see someone's jaw fall on the floor.

It's maybe not your cup of tea, but just try it out...

I recommend getting Dan Harlan's switchblade, this made the biddle trick about 10 times better in my opinion.

Tomer,

Very good and well thought out presentation. Over the years I have worked out my own unique presentation of the biddle trick and the invisible deck, but marring the two together could definitely bring something cool and refreshing to the mix. I do have a question; the biddle trick and the invisible deck are both very powerful mysterious for the spectator. Do you ever feel that the impact of the effects suffer when combined together vs if you performed them separate?

Thanks again,
y.

Thank you for your comments guys.

Yabi,

I decide what I want to do on the spot. I too perform the Invisible Deck and the Biddle Trick by themselves at certain situations. When the time is right I'll combine the two together and perform this particular routine. As I've mentioned, it's mostly for business meetings and small shows. Biddle Trick can be done almost silently in bars and clubs, Invisible Deck can be performed with minimum presentation and almost no build-up for a good reaction. This routine is really for the moment when you can sit down and build it up.

I'm really liking this combination, pretty much in spite of the fact that I'm far too lazy to carry two decks around under any circumstances. But I would carry a mini ID, and that makes this very possible. Thanks for sharing.
