Hello everybody!

I am searching for texts that deals with music and magic, does anybody know of any published books on the subject? Or any other texts?

Any help would be appreciated! I hope this is the right place to ask.

Apart from being a magician I am also a student of musicology at the university of Gothenburg and I am currently doing an small essay about music and sound effects for magic.

Here's a couple of links to get you started. (Real basic stuff.)

Maybe you could post your essay when you get it done.

Thank you very much Eldon! I haven't seen this before.

I think the essay will be a property of my university, but I'm not shure. And it will be in swedish anyway.

But if anybody else has more suggestions it would be very appreciated!

Hello tombola,

Have a look at the Camirand Academy of Magic in Canada. They sell an excellent booklet written by Gary Ouellet called "The Magic and the Music". It explaines everything someone should know when using music in any kind of show, the whats, the hows and the whys. He treats in this booklet aswell all the legal aspects of using music.

Get it, it's not that expensive.

I own it since a few years and it always served me and still serves me.

Good luck.

Oliver.

Watch some Copperfield tapes for your essay. He is the master at picking the perfect musical piece to fit the illusion.
