So I get a lot of emails asking when "Moment's Notice 7" is coming out. Not sure, really. But in the meantime, I will be releasing an ebook of ten impromptu packet effects called "Let's Get Small" (Old school Steve Martin fans will get the reference). All the tricks are totally impromptu: no gaffs or gimmicks. They're also easy to do and have a huge impact on lay people.

Lay people love packet tricks. And the reason is because when you do a trick that uses a small amount of cards and nothing else, it's more impressive because it doesn't seem you can hide anything. They notice the difference. After witnessing a packet trick, I've had more that one spectator say things to the effect of, "You only used a few cards. There's no way you could have done anything!"

The ebook will be available next week.

Here's a sample effect:

Dunno Cameron,
but putting five cards on the table and then showing four, was something I noticed at once. I actually went back on the video to see if I was mistaken. Maybe it may go unnoticed with laymen, but nevertheless ...

I think this looks pretty good. I don't think he calls attention to or counts the number or cards at any time during the routine. "Here we have a small packet of cards". This discrepancy is used in a big way in my favorite packet trick of all Royal Scam.

Obviously it may be just our 'magician's eye' that notices these things. But in Bannon's effect (which I own and love), I did not notice it the first time I saw a video, maybe because there are more cards involved?

I have done Distinguished countless times for lay people and none of them have noticed the discrepancy. There's no reason for them to count the cards as no attention is drawn to the number, just the condition of the cards. Of course, magicians know certain counts. Lay people don't.

Glad you like Courtesy Flush, Xcath. Again, I have gotten fantastic reactions with it.

Another strong vote here. I'm loving this stuff - great effects, very well written. You should indeed be very proud of LGS! Lots of fun to learn.
