I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone on this board. While this is my first post, I have "lurked" these boards for the past six months as I was putting together my last good run at making performance magic my career. I never ceased to be inspired, amused, or challenged by the tremendous creativity contained within these topics.
Unfortunately due to recurring severe health problems, which is sad since I'm in my 20s, are forcing me out of the game for good. I did not, however, want to leave these boards without expressing my gratitude to all. If anyone is interested in any of my magical odds and ends, I do not just want to pack everything in a box where it may never see the light of day again, please contact me via PM. I do have several outlaw effects pieces, including a copy of phantoms that has never been used, that I would like to see go into good hands and used. Any monies will go towards medical bills.
Once again, thank you for all of your insight and shared creativity. I only wish I could have contributed more to this fantastic community.
Sincerely,
Loki (Tim Treffinger)

He probably can't get to the Deal section with his post count, Bill. That said, I hope you stick around and chat some, Loki. We have a lot of members who, for various reasons, don't perform often but love our craft. Chat with us, most of us don't bite. Hard. 'cept maybe Danny. And don't **** off Harry.
I'd hold on to Phantoms if I were you. Even with declining health, book tests can be done without a lot of physical activity and will still impress your friends. That, and it will pay a lot more bills if you hold on to it a little longer because the run is sold out.
Wishing you a speedy recovery,
Joe

I agree totally with Joe. Stay aboard and don't give up hope. Keep what you can, if you can. You never know. The one thing that you do know--or should--is that all of us are pulling for you in our own different ways. Mine includes positive thoughts and prayers.
Best and blessings,
gary

Hi Tim,
Sounds like you've made your piece... I wish you well on your journey... My wife has MS and tells me "you can be sick and miserable... Or sick and happy" be happy, choice is everything...

Thank you all for the positive outpouring. I will be getting back to those who once me within the next couple days, after finishing my struggle with letting some pieces go. It's true, I've made my peace, but the positivity gleaned from this post has definitely brought a smile to my face. I have a few weeks of hardcore chemo ahead of me, with finishing up my law degree in between if health permits me to finish out finals and graduate, then I may re-evaluate things.
I love the craft, especially the bizarre, and pending the outcome of treatments I definitely have some ideas I will float here even if I won't be performing actively. Thanks again for all the support and positive energy!

The same event is either a hassle or an adventure. The differences are the eyes that see it, and the way the outcome becomes a triumph.
All of us wish you the best! And that should be very scary!

Tim, I'm sure most of us here have had friends and loved ones go through chemo and sympathies with your ordeal. Just know that we're here cheering you on along the way and look forward to a day when all this is behind you and your energy can be rightly focused on the craft you love.

I would also second this advice about holding onto Phantoms for now at least.

I wish you good luck. Don't forget that you absolutely need something, a passion, a hobby with a target. We are made of flesh and mind, and mind needs "cool air" too, it needs projects, new ideas, discoveries, challenges...so why bizarre magic could not play that role ?
De tout coeur,
