Wow, so they made him tame it down eh?

He will not hurting for gigs after all that footage, that is for sure. He is the very first performer seen on season 7.

I think in the long run, who cares who makes it through when you get air time in front of 10 million viewers.

I'd rather look like a pro for an audience of twelve than a hack for an audience of 10 million.

I don't know about his ability as a magician Payne, I just did not care for that kind of entertainment. I just don't feel someone needs to take off their clothes to be noticed. I was not sure how they made the edits but I was not sure what was going on with the act. Bits and pieces at the beginning were okay as far as comedy and the judges seemed to agree. Then it moved into confusing. It may have been different before it hit the TV.

He probably is pretty seasoned as a performer and the short time span just did not highlight his true abilities.

And this is why I think AGT is a horrible venue for magic. As you have pointed out the short time span prohibits you from doing anything but the most abbreviated cut down bare bones version of ones act. There is so little time for theatrical setup, character establishment and proper timing that most acts become more of a product demo than they do a proper presentation of the piece. You then are at the mercy of the producers who can have your act edited any way they wish. it is at their whim whether you look like a star or a loser. Do you really want what possibly will be your only appearance on national TV to end up making you look like a want to be goober? For me the fleeting fifteen minutes of fame I'd get from an appearance on AGT simply isn't worth the risk.

I noticed that the video clip is over 2 minutes, when I thought the rules was 90 seconds of performance time. So with all the editing, it was still over. Don't these guys know they have only 90 seconds? Therefore, shouldn't they have a trick within that time frame?

Payne I cannot argue with what you said. You seem to know a lot about the show for sure. There is a lot of information every year about TV shows on the Café.

WWmhegbli, I think the clock starts when he actually goes into his act, not the comments before and after.

Averaging 10 million viewers so far. Wondering how many are die hard Stern fans? It appears so far he is more friendly then Piers. Having two Americans seems more AGT since BGT does not have any Americans or do they?

A lot of competition to compete with since changing the nights from Tues/Wed.

I have to agree with the judges on this one. I also watch his website video and sincerely do not like his routine. His ring hook up is awful and it all goes downhill from there. And yes .... I am and have been for a long time a Howard fan.
